We transformed our classrooms into Percy Jackson scenes to get the kids excited about the book! We hung Greek team flags around the classroom using fabric and vinyl.

On Day 2, a perfect afternoon activity was making lovely Greek Temples using 'Art Straws'. We simply cut wavy strips (different colours) and stuck them on a blue piece of card. Then, we cut out a white triangle and placed it in the centre of the page. Finally, we cut straws out to make the columns and the roof. Very simple. Very effective for displaying on a bulletin board.

Third grade students illustrated their knowledge of Greek architecture that they learned in social studies class. In art class, they drew the 3 different types of Greek columns; Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. They created a contrasting background paper using bleeding tissue paper to showcase the white columns.

Ancient Rome/Greece bulletin board idea. The whole thing cost $14.50 at the dollar tree. 3 poster boards $0.50 each 8 vines $1.00 each 4 w/ grapes on it 4 w/o and finally 5 plastic grape bunches some red some green and some black $1.00 each. Not bad for a middle school teacher.
