the diagram shows how cell transport is used for cellular energy and other things that can be found

Objectives SWBAT describe active transport. SWBAT distinguish among endocytosis, exocytosis, and phagocytosis. Main Ideas Proteins can transport materials against a concentration gradient. Endocytosis and exocytosis transport materials across the cell membrane in vesicles.

two diagrams showing the effects of endocysts and exosynsis

Active transport relies on the use of energy to move substances into and out of cells. Usually, molecules are traveling against a concentration gradient.

Active and Passive transport are the two mechanisms of biomolecules transportation across the semi permeable memebrane. Transport of molecules or ions is either through ATP pump or some carrier proteins. Active transport requires ATP expenditure whereas passive transport does not, is the major difference.

the different types of transport are labeled in this diagram, and each one has its own name on it

This is a re-posting of the notes I originally posted on reddit from a general cell biology class I took in spring 2011. I re-scanned them after signing all of them at the suggestion of another red…

an image of the plasma transport and active transport

Students compare and contrast passive and active transport by playing a game to model this phenomenon. Movement through cell membranes is also modeled, as well as the structure and movement typical of the fluid mosaic model of the cell membrane. Concentration gradient, sizes, shapes and polarity of molecules determine the method of movement through cell membranes. This activity is associated with the Test your Mettle phase of the legacy cycle.

In living organisms, the diffusion of substances is mediated by the cell membrane. By definition, facilitated diffusion is a type of passive transport which utilizes 'agents' known as channel proteins and carrier proteins to speed up the transport process. Explore the importance, experiments & examples of it.
