Since the end of 2024 I’ve been logging and writing short reviews for all the films I watch. Originally I did this on my Letterboxd profile, but in the spirit of owning my own data I’ve switched to using my website as the primary source and copying them over to Letterboxd afterwards.

Everyone has different meanings for star ratings (or at least they do on Letterboxd!). I rate films based on how much I enjoyed watching them. My rough scale is:

| Absolute favourite. I could watch any of these at any time and be happy about it. |

| Fine. Don't begrudge having seen it, but also not going to rave about it. |

| Meh... It wasn't bad, but was it worth watching? |

| Didn't enjoy but there was some redeeming quality that means I might give it a rewatch. |
|
| Disliked, or was completely bored by. Definitely not for me. |
|
| Hated. Offensively bad, for some reason or other. |
I also sort every film I’ve logged into a global ranking, running from my favourite film down to my most hated. I’ll sometimes adjust ratings when this ordering makes it obvious I’ve been inconsistent. You can see the list here:
