Wheeling police and fire departments responded to a rollover crash Monday evening in the intersection of Hintz and McHenry Roads. There was no entrapment, one driver was transported to the hospital while another signed a release.

New home for former Lisle-Woodridge FPD squad

Ex Lisle-Woodrige FPD squad  was in Anderson County KY and now it’s in Graves County KY at Mayfield-Graves County Fire and Rescue. Believe it was a donation after a tornado wiped out the department’s fleet a few years ago.

As seen around … Warsaw, NY – New home for former Addison tower ladder

This from Larry Shapiro;

While driving through western/central New York state in the town of Warsaw, I stopped a the firehouse since the doors were open. Several of the apparatus had been purchased used including this 1993 E-ONE Hurricane tower ladder from Addison.

They also have a Spartan / McGinley pumper formerly from Lebanon, IN.

It’s a sad day for our fire department. Truck 2014, our 2002 Seagrave ladder truck which has served our residents and businesses proudly since 2002 is leaving and heading to Louisville. The ladder truck was decommissioned last year due to frame issues and has been out of service since last June. The Louisville FD will be removing the ladder and placing it on one of their out-of-service rigs to be used again. We are happy its going to a new home and be useful. On a positive note, our new ladder truck is in production now and hopefully it will be completed in July. It will look different and will probably be placed in service in the fall once training is completed by our firefighters. It will then proudly serve our village just like Truck 2014.

Townhouse fire in Volo, 5-12-25

The Wauconda Fire District responded to a fire reported on an outside deck of a townhouse unit at 1106 Piccolo Lane in Volo. Wauconda Station 3 is less than a mile from the address. The fire communicated up the outside wall extending into the floor above. When companies encountered some extension into the adjacent unit, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm for additional resources. The loss was stopped quickly and several of the mutual aid companies were released from the staging area. 

Some of the departments assisting Wauconda included Round Lake, Fox Lake, Grayslake, Mundelein, Lake Zurich, and the McHenry Township, Nunda Rural, Countryside, and Long Grove fire districts.
