Designing on the Fly

Jan did a little designing for this adorable ornament.  Hopefully we see what she's stitching on her trip before this publishes in two months.

Stitch (by Mindy)

Jan the Stitch Lady picked up a Mindy canvas at a stash sale and is having fun with it.

After a summer holiday, she's working on the left border.

She's doing the letters in French knots using wool.  I wouldn't have thought to do this but it looks magnificent!

Cupid's Logs (Kathy Rees)

Jan's next project will be a chart from Kathy Rees called "Cupid's Logs."   This design is based on a quilting interlocking log design.  She is choosing her own colors from her stash of Watercolours threads.

The center heart is finished.  Now Jan has to decide what colors to use in the background.

You can buy the chart or threads from the designer at her Needle Delights website.

Jan's Taking Nights in White Satin Class (Jennifer Riefenberg)

Jan recently took a pilot class from Jennifer Riefenberg called "Nights in White Satin."  This will be taught at the ANG Seminar this August so Jan participated in the pilot class to help the teacher iron out any bugs in the instructions or major questions stitchers might have before the class actually happens.

This is a really pretty counted project!

The three layer partial Rhodes area is done!

It's finished and lovely.

Revisiting Old Projects

Jan is wandering down memory lane and looking at old projects over at her Stitch Lady blog.  The first piece is a Joan Thomasson class she took.

If you'd like to try one of Joan's wonderful larger class pieces, you can order from her website.

Summer Challenge 2024

Jan Sprague, the Stitch Lady, is designing an original project as part of her local chapter of ANG's Summer Challenge.  They all will design a small original piece, no larger than 6 inches, and choose the colors.

Jan has decided on red, navy and yellow for her star inside a circle design.

Making sure everything lined up properly took some work.

I think it turned out great.  I love the yellow tips on the star points!

Tuscan Midnight: Stitching Kathy Rees

Jan the Stitch Lady is starting a new charted piece called "Tuscan Midnight."  It's from Kathy Rees of Needle Delights.

She is having fun!

And it is done, magnificently, I should add.

Lorene Salt's Africana

Jan of the Stitch Lady blog has finished the modified Kathy Rees design she turned into a baby birth sampler and is now looking forward to working Lorene Salt's "Africana" with her local ANG chapter.

The Chilly Hollow stitch isn't my creation.  Jean Hilton made it up.

Jan's working on a stash sale Santa (from Melissa Shirley?) while she waits for the class to begin.

Oops!  Counting errors are the bane of my existence.  I feel for you, Jan!

It's done--and it is beautiful!

I'll update this as Jan posts about her progress.  If you aren't familiar with Lorene Salt's designs, here is her website to explore--

Cruisin'

Jan is cruising the Rhine on a trip run by Sandy Arthur and she's having a blast!

Brenda also went on the cruise.  Here's her report.

Want to go on one of these yourself?  Here's more information from Sandy Arthur's blog.  Her next cruise is in Hawaii in April 2023.
