The Summer Mystery, By Ruth Schmuff UPDATED To Two Mysteries

Ruth Schmuff has revealed the mystery class she'll be teaching at Bedecked and Beadazzled throughout the summer of 2019—Johanna Virtanen's "White Cat."

As always, I'll update this article with Ruth's steps in stitching this charmer as she blogs about each lesson.

UPDATES:  Ruth has started with the background and the cat's body, both using open stitches to allow the paint shading to add depth behind the stitches.

The cat has a body, ears and wonderful eyes.

And the White cat has flowers!

MANY flowers!

Here is White Cat framed. It's wonderful.  The companion piece will be Ruth's mystery class for July-August 2021.

Special Update:  Ruth is adding Johanna Virtanen's "Wings" as a second mystery class because they are so similar.

Introducing Barcelona Coaster and More

The Columbus trade show is winding down a bit, which means painted canvas designers are starting to post designs on their websites.  Traditionally, designers kept their designs out of sight until the shops who went to the trade show got to see them, and although with blogging and Facebook that tradition is starting to disappear, many designers stick with this procedure.

Ruth Schmuff has introduced several new fairies to her Tis The Season line.  She also has added a pair of sisters/friends designs.  All come in two sizes so you can pick the larger or smaller depending on your time constraints and how you want to finish the designs.  You can see the newest items at the top of this page.

Robin King has reported in on the Sunday doings in Columbus.  She promises more photographs once she gets home and has computer access.  Blogging via smart phone isn't as convenient as using your trusty home computer and good Internet connection!

Amy Bunger's added more new items to her website straight from Columbus.

Needle Works has added a new summary page to their blog about all the market goodies, including Sandy Arthur's new NP Shapes book.

She has also added a few new photos to the Amy's Golden Strand Facebook photo album from the show.  Chaparral Needlework has also added more new photos on their FB page. If you have a Facebook account, search on the names exactly as I wrote them to find the site.

As promised, I've updated the CH Stitch Guides blog with a photo of my latest Leigh Designs project, the small size of Barcelona from the ESPANA series.  Now you can see just how good a job I did emphasizing the various areas in this rather abstract design without making any one area too prominent.

Leigh has updated her website with photos of all the new small sizes of the ESPANA series and also has posted photographs of her latest Fash Insert pieces, created to fit into the Lee eBook reader covers.  The links to each section are on her home page.  The eBook covers have a great small dragon, a Chinese lady in all her finery, an homage to Edgar Allen Poe and more.  Hint:  If you sail, are from Texas or love the little church in the dale, you need to visit these.

Fun with Stitching Friends

One of the nicest things about the Internet is how well we get to know other stitchers.  Stephanie's fellow SWANs are becoming well known to me.  (Steph says they think maybe they need their own TV show.  I agree!)  Here are the ornaments stitched for Lisa at the SWAN Christmas ornament exchanges over the years, following by other ornaments that have been stitched and gifted.  Lots to see and learn from here!

Speaking of learning, Ruth Schmuff has started her latest mystery class.  In these classes, everyone knows what canvas they'll be stitching but no one --not even Ruth-- know what they will look like at the end.  It's an adventure via mail order kits!  The first lesson talks about faces and hair for this Maggie canvas, with Ruth sharing a great tip for a thread that does hair beautifully and easily.

Ridgewood is showing off some of their Sandra Gilmore canvases and in the process, talking a little about the fun things parents and kids come up with together that build memories that will outlast the parent.  There are gnomes, too.  I think they might be from dede Odgen but I am not certain.

See?  We really do get to know each other through our stitching.
