Needlepoint Resales

There's a new stash sales site on Etsy--Needlepoint Resales!

Sharon's new shop is in California and currently has some fun painted canvases (a few with threads) for your browsing pleasure.  Have fun browsing!

Horse County Chic Goes on a Buying Spree

Horse Country Chic is stocking up on painted canvases.  I suspect most of us are, both trying to keep our favorite shops afloat, and give us something nice to look forward to.

Even I bought something for the first time in about three years—my Pharaoh canvas from Leigh Designs!

Tiny Decisions

Elizabeth overheard some cross stitchers talking about using the Tiny Decisions app to help them pick their next project and is testing it.

If you rotate projects and have trouble deciding which one to work next, this might be of interest to you.  The Tiny Decisions app is available for Apple devices but not Android, although there appear to be many similar ones available on both systems.

Various Stash Projects, Courtesy of Anna Pearson

After you've been stitching a while, you can end up with odds and ends of threads. What to do?  Anna has the answer—stash projects!
http://anna-pearson-needlepoint.blogspot.com/2017/08/the-universal-problem.html

Anna has quite a few designs suitable for using up many colors of thread but you can also visit the free projects available online.  The big thread companies have great free projects.  Here is Caron's website.  Besides the projects link below, look at Designer Spotlights and Online Classes to see more fun things to stitch from your stash.

Here are the free charts from Rainbow Gallery.

Finally, the Stitch of the Month projects from the American Needlepoint Guild are classics and a great way to learn while you use up excess threads.  (Hopefully all the former projects will be available again soon as ANG builds out their new website.)

Michele's 3-2-1 Rule

Michele Herron of The Bristly Thistle has a neat way to keep her stock of unstitched canvases under control.   She calls it the 3-2-1 Rule.  Now all I have to do is find some self-control buried under the boxes of threads and canvases….

SuDu's Stash Tour

Sue Dulle has a really nice set up for storing her stitching supplies—and she was nice enough to share.  Personally I think she should be able to take over the living room.  After all, one never has enough thread and tools—or places to put them!

Musing on The Stash

Ann's blog has a very interesting essay about our stashes and how we feel about them today.  Ann is an English academic and mostly a quilter but a stash is a stash!  All needleworkers have them. Probably all folks who make things with their hands have them actually.  But how we use our stash and how we feel about accumulating it varies widely as you will see.

My stash is nuts stored up for the winter.  What's yours?

An Ode to Stash Stitching

Louise's Needlework wrote a lovely little essay about stitching a project entirely from stash that I find very inspirational! I think you'll enjoy it, too.  Scroll down to "Scrappy Cat," about midway in the newsletter.

Canvases (and Threads) Be Gone

Oh, boy! CanvasesBeGone.com has a new look and a new sister site, ThreadsBeGone.com! CanvasesBeGone is the place to buy or sell unwanted stash, so ThreadsBeGone will be a place to find threads that perhaps you can't get locally.
http://www.canvasesbegone.com

It looks as if the threads (listed on the right hand side) come in sets.  Sometimes there is a color assortment, sometimes you can buy several cards of the same color.  Want an assortment of colors of Wisper?  Want to try Neon Rays Plus?  This is the place to shop.

Jan Reorganizes

Jan at Thread Medley has been overwhelmed by unstitched projects recently, so she did a little reorganization.  Now she can't see anything but the projects in her current rotation and their threads are close at hand.  No visiting the stash and becoming stressed out by everything that is there, screaming your name!  Very clever, Jan.

A Reminder That Nothing's Forever

The Young Needlepointer reminds us that nothing lasts forever.  Enjoy that stash while you can and pass it around if you know you won't stitch it.

Casey Has the Organization Bug

Thanks to Stephanie posting about it on Facebook, I discovered The Young Needlepoint blog. Here's a fun posting about her new stash organization system. Lots of great ideas there!
http://theyoungneedlepointer.blogspot.com/2012/02/total-organization.html

Excuse me while I go add Casey to the Blog List.  Why don't you guys go say hi to Casey while I do that?

By the way, Tisha has a great storage idea, too, courtesy of a customer in Wales.  IKEA here we come!
