Sunday Sketch with Wendy

Hello everyone!

Happy Sunday!  Do you love the weekly CTK (Citrus Twist Kits) Sunday Sketch as much as I do?  We can vote to equally agree, ha!

Even better you can take your weekly sketches, print them down mini size, and make them into a mini idea book you can quickly grab for inspiration.  Just a thought.
Ok, I digress, now on to the Sunday Sketch.

Now here's my take on the sketch...

I love to play around with lots of stamping and layers on my layouts.  So, this one was no exception.  Plus, the kit selections, CTK stamps, and CTK Exclusives makes it super easy to do so. I love to "mix-and-match" with product not only from the current CTK kits but also from past kits.  The kits are truly timeless to use now and/or later.

I chose the phrase title "always dreaming of..." from ephemera in a previous kit and let it lead into my stamped "journaling" at the bottom of the page.  This is a favorite technique that I love and use often in my projects.  It's great when you don't have a lot of time for handwritten journaling yet you want to perfectly capture the moment in the photo(s).

Did you know there's even a CTK Stamp Grab Bag over in the shop?  So, you might be lucky to grab up some past stamp sets you missed from previous releases!  Some of these stamps used in my "journaling" above are even from 2015 and still fit in seamlessly strong with the stamp gangs from 2016 and 2017! Ha!

I also use a stamped phrase as part of my title work.  And the 2x3 Numbers stamp set over in the shop is perfectly sized for Pocket Life cards.

Here I layered the edge of a Pocket Life card to peek from behind my picture.  So, I encourage you to think outside of your Pocket Life style pages.

On this piece of ephemera, I added some stamped stars and words to tie into my theme of the layout.  This Guest Check receipt was just too perfect not to use for my layout theme!

As a finishing touch, I loved this phrase on a Pocket Life card and decided to trim it to fit at the top of my layout along with a CTK exclusive Digital Cut-a-Part Label that you'll find in the kits.

To play along with this week's challenge, create a layout inspired by the sketch, upload it to the Citrus Twist Kits Gallery with the sketch date (5/21) in the title, and you might win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK store.  Easy peasy!

Sweet Layout with Missy

Hey there, Citrus Twist fans!  Missy back with you today.  I'm so excited to share a layout using the March Add-On "Day Dreams" Kit.  I love all the beautiful Maggie Holmes stickers in this kit, and I used quite a bit of them on this page.  I began by cutting the pretty butterfly cut file on my Cameo with white cardstock.  Before I removed it from the sticky mat, I used one of this month's exclusive stamps and repeatedly stamped it all over the butterflies.  Then I used some ink sprays from my stash to give them some watercolor effects.  Then I peeled the whole thing off the mat and stitched it down to another sheet of white cardstock.

I couldn't resist using these beautiful floral stickers here, and I paired them up with the cute mint & gold deer.  Here you can see the background mixed media work.  I used some yellow ink spray on the background and then came in with my waterbrush to paint more on.  Aren't these glittery gold Thickers amazing?  In person they sometimes have a silvery sheen to them as well.

These are all from the Maggie Holmes sticker sheet.  I love layering embellishments and stitching through them with my sewing machine.

The stamp I used says "The Wild in You" which is the perfect sentiment for my youngest daughter...haha!  Here you can see the colors and the stitching...this was so fun to do!

This shows how you can use the stamps in a unique way...in this case, creating a fun and abstract mixed media embellishment!  I also add in some tangled gold thread here.

Here's my process video if you'd like to see how this layout came together from start to finish.  I hope it inspires you in some way!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Love Love Love Layout with Missy

Hey there, Citrus Twist friends!  Missy here with you, and today I'm sharing my first layout using the February Main "Stories" Kit.  It is so beautiful, and it's full of pretty pinks, yellows, teals and lots of floral elements.  I've had this photo ready to scrap for quite some time, but the papers were never right.  This kit is perfect...it has just the right colors and elements.  I knew right away I had to get it scrapped!

I used a few cut apart pieces from one of the Maggie Holmes Bloom papers and paired it with some of the Pink Paislee ephemera pieces and stickers.  I did a bit of mixed media work on the background and used a flower stamp from my stash to create a few subtle hearts on some vellum.

I love how this cluster turned out.  I fussy cut the YOU banner from the cut-apart printable exclusive sheet and machine stitched it down.  I fussy cut that tea cup of flowers and layered it with the Pink Paislee ampersand.  The yellow tab and green label are from the exclusive printable as well.

I just adore these Thickers!  There are so many...including two different sizes of upper case letters.  I mixed and matched here to spell my daughter's name.

I used a flower stamp, ink and vellum from my stash to create a few subtle flowers for layering here, and I also added in some tangled thread.  I love how the pretty light blue contrasts with the pinks, yellows and greens in the papers and my photo.

I love that the Pink Paislee ephemera pack contains die cuts and acetate pieces.  I paired this piece here with one of the puffy stickers.  I also added in one of the white exclusive doilies as a layering piece.

Here's a look at my process video if you'd like to see how I put this page together from start to finish.  I hope you find some inspiration!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!

Missy :)
