SUNDAY SKETCH with Nathalie

Hi there!

Nathalie with you today to share a new project inspired on this week's sketch.   We all love a good sketch is like the foundation of a cohesive and successful layout that comes together in a breeze.  Let's take a  look at this week's sketch:

And here is my project inspired on the sketch and featuring a combination of the Parasol Add on kit, and Gather Mini kit and digital files:

I  decided to stay close to the sketch for the picture side of my spread.   The diagonal  strip of paper in the sketch was the perfect starting point for the spread .

I trimmed patterned papers from the Parasol Add-on kit to create the base and  diagonal strip of the page.  My choice was to get rid of the stitched paper strip at the top of the page, and added a large floral cluster ( Gather Ephemera pack) in its place.  I kept the picture placement as per the sketch but moved some pieces/embellishments around so that they balance the page a bit better.

I added the small diagonal paper strip to the bottom right corner of the spread -as per sketch-.   This time, I shortened the stitched paper strip, and created a banner from one of the 6x4 digital cards.  I used the Mint Puffy Alpha Stickers to add my title on the banner.   In addition,  I added a second floral cluster (Gather ephemera) behind the title.

Here is where I took liberties with the sketch, and decided to elongate the diagonal line of the design.  I carried over that line into the other side of the spread, and created a pocket to house my journaling (Gather Digital collection) card in place.

Since this page documents day 4 of my Gratitude album - 6x8 Pumpkin Spice Life Crafted Album-, I used a metal die to cut the number 4 from patterned paper (Parasol Add on kit) then mixed  ephemera pieces (Gather kit) with enamel dots (Parasol Add On kit) as the embellishment cluster/subtitle in the front of the pocket.  this cluster completes my visual triangle.

I am using one of the Gather digital elements to create my journaling card.  I simply enlarged it -using Photoshop- then duplicated the card, and  rotated one of them before joining them together.   I simply added my journaling and printed it  off.

I  love how this turned out,  and how easily it came together using the sketch as inspiration for the page.   Remember to check the sketch, and share any project you create inspired by it.

XO!

Sunday Sketch with Lory

Hey there friends! How are you?

Happy Sunday! It's Lory here today to share with you my take for one of the beautiful sketches from Citrus Twist! When I saw at it it was love at the first time! You know I love the sketches because they give me ideas when the creative flow is down or when sometimes I don't feel so much inspired.

I have used all the beautiful journaling cards from the past Citrus Twist kits and I added the amazing ephemera from the new products collections!

Before starting to decorate my page and filling it with many little meaningful details I have create a soft watercolor background with many different shadows of green using  neocolors and gelatos and I was in love with the final result. I am not a fan of strong mixed media so this kind of color makes me feel happy enough :)

Then I fussy cut some flowers from a past scrapbooking add on, I added some digitals and exposy dots.  At last the stamps, I am completely and deeply in love with all the kinds of stamps from Citrus Twist, those little phrases and words are perfect to me! I love the tiny details to add meanings to my pages.

What do you think? Hope you  will be inspired from my page to create yours. Creativity is what makes me feel happy and for you?

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Love, Lory

Sunday Sketch with Emma

Hi friends!  Emma on blog today to share this weeks Sunday Sketch challenge!

I love this weekly challenge and I have had so much fun playing with this month's Life Crafted kit.  The colours are so fresh and fun; more so for us experiencing this icky winter weather - everything is so blah bit I opened up my kit and the colours were an instant happy!

First up let's have a look at the sketch:

And here is the project I created:

As you can see I've converted the 12x12 sketch to fit my smaller 6x8 format but it still totally works!  I've used the June Life Crafted Kit "Around Here" but also added in a few of this months stamps as well.

I am seriously LOVING this floral paper included in the kit this month.  The colours are just perfect and I'm feeling the need to put it on everything (you can bet I'm keeping all the little off-cuts!).  I kep with the sketch by putting a piece of at the bottom of my page but I also added a corner piece at the top left of my page, to create a bit more balance and because I really do just love the colours/pattern and wanted more of it on my layout :)

I got lucky in being allocated a sketch I loved this month so decided to try and keep my layout as close as possible.  I started my page with the messy part - because it's what always gives me the most trouble.  Splatters seem like such an easy thing to do but I always seem to mess them up, ha!  I used Pinkfresh Translucent Liquid Watercolor (which I picked up from the store a little while back; finally using it!) and I'm so happy to say that on my very first attempt they actually went where I wanted them to!  That never happens ;)

Once my successful ink splatters finally dried (which always seems to take soooooooo long) I started to create my layers.  I picked a couple white tags from my stash and stamped a few sentiments that matched the photo I wanted to use (of my mum and aunt).

I built up my photo cluster by adding a neutral pattern underneath my photo (I didn't want anything to compete with the gorgeous floral pattern) and popped one of the die-cut pieces underneath my photo.  I typed my journaling up on the computer and printed it out.

I'm also loving the black foam phrases included in the Life Crafted kit - aren't they the perfect size?!  I used one for my title and added the arrow/hearts around my photo to balance things out.  I do love how they fit in with the blank splatters on my background too!

To finish off my page I popped one of the carstock foam stickers underneath the photo then added a few of the enamel shape stickers around my photo for a few more pops of colour!

I had so much fun putting this one together and I cannot wait to see your take on it as well!  Be sure to share on our Facebook Fanpage so we can all see!

Take care, Em xo

Sunday Sketch with Nathalie

Hi there!
Nathalie here with this week's sketch challenge, and i am in love with all the layers that it showcases.  Having a sketch always makes a project come together easily in a short amount of time.  So, before i show you what i created using the Life Chapters kit and a few pieces from the add-on kit, let me share the sketch with you all.

I was inspired by the layers and positioning of the elements  to create this page about my youngest sister and her lovely story (trust me she herself is an adventure for us!)

I tried an stayed true to the sketch, but as you can see there are a few minor changes that make it more my style.  Firstly, i switched the location of the label and the small paper strip from the bottom to the top of the page, and added a bit of mixed media to the background, hence adding texture to this page.

While the texture paste dried, i used the Notebook Edge cut file to cut one of the Pinkfresh Studio papers with it, at the same time a few of the floral images from the Sunny Days papers (Maggie Holmes) from the add-on kit were fussy cut.

I pulled all the blue elements  i could find in the cut apart elements, ephemera and labels to bring the pops of color to this page.   Once i had everything ready, i followed the sketch to create the layers behind the picture using papers from both the Life Chapters and Add on Kits.

The ripped layer of paper was replaced with the fussy cut florals, and all the blue elements were used to create the small clusters that create the visual triangle on this page.   Gotta love the small alphas included in the Life Chapters kit, as they are the perfect font to combine with all die cuts, and so on, just like featured in the title of this page.  The following video will show you how it all came together:

As you can see this page is a reflection of my sister's story and it came together rather easily with the  inspiration the sketch provides.

Now it is  your turn to put the sketch to use in a project of your own.  Remember to share with us what you create, tag @citrustwistkits or #citrustwistkits when sharing it on social media or just upload your picture to the CTK Friends page on Facebook.  We love seeing your creations.
