La cantante se inició desde los 14 años, participando en festivales juveniles. Su experiencia profesional se lo debe al trabajo desarrollado como cantante en los hoteles de Bávaro, desde donde extendió su labor hasta Europa y participó como cantante en cruceros.

Para entonces, se fue a residir por varios años en Málaga, España, donde integró su grupo de música variada, lo que le abrió las puertas de emisoras que difundieron ampliamente su música. A su regreso a República Dominicana integró la orquesta Mambo Swing y presentó el concierto “Margarita canta a su Pueblo” que logró congregar gran público en la cancha central de Andrés, Boca Chica.
