| Description |
English: Before 1930, the halibut fishermen in the dories pulled in the lines and removed the fish into a large net. The net was then lifted onto the steamer where the fish were cleaned and iced down until the steamer returned to port.
In this photo, a man guides a large net of halibut onto the deck of the steamer "Polaris." The load of fish came from a dory which is out of sight in the photo. The photo was taken in the northern Pacific Ocean sometime between 1913 and 1927.
