Hello, Meodipt!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Thank you for uploading File:5-Ethyl-DMT_structure.png! Did you know that the SVG format is often the best alternative for this type of image? Scalable Vector Graphics have a lot of advantages: they scale better, the file size is usually smaller, and they are easier to modify.

The quality of the chemical structure File:Acha markush.png is disputed

[edit]
Dispute notification The chemical structure File:Acha markush.png you uploaded has been tagged as and is now listed in Category:Low quality chemical diagrams. Files in this category might be deleted after one month if there is no upload of an improved version, if there is no objection from the uploader or other users and if a better version exists. Please discuss on the file talk page if you feel that the dispute is inappropriate. If you agree with the dispute, you can either upload an improved version or simply allow the file to be deleted.

In all cases, please do not take the dispute personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! --Pmillerrhodes (talk) 05:46, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meodipt. May I ask if you are planning to address the dispute by uploading a new version? --Leyo 08:44, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I can draw a neater version with the software I have (BKChem), it doesn't handle subscripts well. Let me have a go, but if you still don't like the improved version someone else will have to draw it. Meodipt (talk) 00:37, 23 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Serlopitant / Vofopitant structure

Dear Meodipt,

please notice Commons:Transition to SVG. Is it possible to output SVGs with your structure drawing program?--Kopiersperre (talk) 13:01, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. The structure drawing program I use (BKChem) supposedly does support SVG output, but I have found that it often renders them incorrectly. Also I personally dislike SVG images for chemical structures as I find them difficult to edit, they don't seem to display properly on some devices, and I find them to look a bit stark and blocky and prefer the softer appearance of PNG files. While I note that there has been an increasing preference to move towards SVG files as the standard over the last few years, my understanding is that PNG images are still considered to be acceptable for chemical structure diagrams, and so I would prefer to continue to use these until they are officially deprecated. Cheers Meodipt (talk) 02:08, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think, in terms of editability PNG and SVG are both not perfect. Redrawing is easier than manipulating with a graphics editor. But what do you mean with some devices don't display properly? Inside articles there will be served a PNG thumbnail in any case. I prefer SVGs, because they are scaling so softly compared to PNGs, but to each his own! It's your decision in which file format you draw, but I will continue to replace PNGs.--Kopiersperre (talk) 11:22, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

i drew this anyone can use it

[edit]

Hi Meodipt. Could you please use the autotranslated Own instead of “i drew this anyone can use it”? --Leyo 22:06, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oops sorry didn't see this. Ok I will try remember to use that in future. Meodipt (talk) 22:19, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading some images! Did you know that Wikimedia Commons recommends the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format for certain types of images? Scalable Vector Graphics are designed to look appropriate at any scale, and SVG images are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export. If you encountered problems or have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (To avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put raster images into an SVG container as embedded raster.) Thanks, and happy editing!

Autopatrol given

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. ~riley (talk) 04:54, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hypoxen_structure.png

[edit]

Hi Meodipt, I saw the image you recently uploaded, File:Hypoxen_structure.png. Can I suggest a small change? I think the O-Na bond should be ionic (O- and Na+), rather than covalent. Thanks, Marbletan (talk) 21:13, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick update. I hate to be that guy, but the solid bond between oxygen and sodium shouldn't be there (it should be O- Na+, rather than O--Na+). Marbletan (talk) 13:46, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
