EDUCATION:
Tasarım, antika ve sanat tutkusuyla büyüyen Serra Nakıboğlu Müftüoğlu, çocukluk hayalinin peşinden Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Mimarlık ve Tasarım Fakültesi İç Mimarlık ve Çevre Tasarımı programına kayıt yaptırarak devam etti. Eğitimini Japonya'da Mukogawa Kadın Üniversitesi'nde kısa süreli bir program aracılığıyla burslu olarak tamamladı.
Okan Müftüoğlu, Haliç Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi'nden mezun oldu. Öğrenimi sırasında İspanya'nın Madrid kentinde mimarlık eğitimi de aldı ve Camilo José Cela Üniversitesi'nden diploma aldı.
EXPERIENCE:
Interior Architect Serra Müftüoğlu began her professional career as an assistant to the department head while still a university student. After gaining work experience and completing internships at corporate firms, she shifted her focus to her own business with a boutique hotel project in Bozcaada.
On the other hand, Müftüoğlu, who closely follows global decoration and fashion trends and constantly renews herself each season, began interpreting and internalizing these trends. She then expanded her interest in table setting into the professional field, starting to work on projects under the category of table design. Her projects, which included New Year-themed tables for famous personalities such as Güneri Civaoğlu, Kenan Erçetingöz, Ertuğrul Özkök, Arda Türkmen, Jale Balcı, and Dilara Koçak, followed by concept tables prepared for the Lezzet magazine for Milliyet newspaper, gained attention.
In 2019, she co-founded a brand named Jaseistanbul with Chef/Cookbook Author Jale Balcı, which produces table textiles, porcelain, and glass accessories. Itırserra, the table design business she runs, became part of this brand. She also continued her work as a consulting board member and volunteer instructor at Şişli Vocational School. Later, she co-founded Somas Architecture and Design with her architect husband, Okan Müftüoğlu.
Architect Okan Müftüoğlu, in the year he graduated, went to Russia’s Rostov-on-Don city to work at Platov Airport, a project with an investment from Limak-Marashstroy, which has a closed area of 110,000 m2. He worked as the architect responsible for design and fine works both in the design office and on-site.
After working at Platov Airport for two years, Müftüoğlu continued his career in Saratov, Russia, taking part in his second project in the country, an airport project for Esta Construction at Yuri Gagarin Airport.
Upon returning to Turkey, he worked as a project coordinator in a managerial position at a prestigious firm and later co-founded Somas Architecture and Design with his wife, Interior Architect Serra Müftüoğlu
