While technologies are getting mobile, we are getting more and more used to having everything at hand on our smartphones. Payments are no exception. And though most banks and payment operators offer mobile solutions for fast payments, it is getting obvious smartphone manufacturers will delve into cryptocurrency, blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) to offer payment options.

In 2018, West Virginia used the blockchain to conduct voting for a midterm election, and this made it the first U.S state to replace the ballot with a new technology. The state will go forward with the use of blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) in all voting exercises, as stated by Donald Kersey, elections director in the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office.

Reverting to its promise from last month (August), Opera is eventually launching a desktop version of its specialized and distinct browser with a built-in digital currency wallet but only to a chosen class of beta testers.
