Genius hackers are hijacking people’s computers to illegally mine crypto assets. There is one malware program that has been recently discovered hiding itself on Amazon’s cloud to exploit the processing power of a large number of ordinary computers.

A lot of Mac users described in the last few weeks that a process dubbed ‘mshelper’ was consuming a lot of CPU power, whirring fans a little too fast and totally draining their batteries within a very short time. This turned out that the process is highly related and associated with a type of malware created to mine for Monero (XMR) cryptocurrency.

Recently hacked Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck has officially announced it will remove four major virtual coins from the trading list by June 18. The company needs to meet Japan’s Financial Service Agency (FSA) requirement which bans crypto coins with a high level of anonymity.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Australia has set up a website that uses user’s computer power for mining the digital currency called Monero. All raised funds are going to be spent for the necessary products for vulnerable children around the world.

Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) has allegedly strengthened its position towards domestic cryptocurrency exchanges. The financial institution wants them to remove from the trading list altcoins which give, as they state, an opportunity to conduct anonymous transactions, facilitate illegal activity, and enhance money laundering.  

Monero Original team has announced support for the original Monero blockchain that will be kept and running after the Monero hard fork scheduled for the 6th of April 2018 at block #1546500.

The government institutions or affiliated structures of Egypt broke the Internet connection of the country’s citizens using the "AdHose" program, which redirects traffic to Monero mining or shows extra advertisements. This information was published in a report by the explorers of the University of Toronto on Friday.

With Bitcoin being hampered by fees and longer waiting times for transactions in recent months, many services online that previously offered BTC payments have introduced various other cryptocurrency payment options. The most popular of these seem to be Litecoin, Ether, Dogecoin, BitcoinCash, and Monero.
