Fort Fred
Some pics from the 18th century Fort Fred market fair. Some of these came from Gloria (https://www.etsy.com/shop/inthelongrun), Jenni and Isabella. I lost track of some of the credits, sorry!

Curtain-along, painting style!
For my birthday today, my Mom did a little costume painting of my curtain-along gown! I love it! She's done such a great job on these, especially since detail is hard to render on non-watercolor paper! And look at the fabric pattern she painted on this one!
Thanks, Mom!

My Curtain-along outfit at Dress U
I wore my "curtain-along" gown Sunday at Dress U for the Mad Hatters tea, along with the hat I bought from Linda last year at Dress U.
I loved seeing everyone's curtain fabric outfits - they were all really different. Mine is a jacket with a ruffled peplum, with a ruffled petticoat.
Here are a bunch of pics!
I liked these four that Isabella got:

Curtain Along Gown
I hadn't actually really tried on this costume yet (I used my standard 18th century block, which, though it needs a little tweaking, generally fits.)
Since I spent time with my hair (and a hairpiece), and I had stays on from taking pics of my new sacque, I thought I'd put this gown on to make sure it was good to go for Dress U!

Sleeve flounces
I finally realized why I didn't like the sleeve flounces the way I had them on my curtain-along gown - it was missing sleeve flounces in self-fabric.
I'm much happier now!

Curtain-along Gown Done!
I finished my Curtain-along gown, and just in the nick of time as I'd wanted to finish it in 2012! In case, you don't know what the Curtain-along is, lots of us are making gowns out of this curtain fabric, which comes in lots of different color ways. You can read more on Jen Thompson's post.
I was inspired by Jenny Rose's ruffled jacket and this period gown:
So here is mine. It's a quarter-back anglaise with a two layered peplum. I like the little apron on it, but I'm not sold on the sleeve flounces. But they're easy enough to take out. I had the red ribbon set aside for this project (it came with a batch of craft stuff from my mom a while ago) and then American Duchess put a similar ribbon on hers. I don't want to be a copy cat, but I like it, so I'm going to keep it. Plus, we're all using the same fabric anyway! ;-)

My curtain along dress has been started!
Here's the very start of my Curtain Along dress. I'm going to do a petticoat with a ruffle, and then a jacket sort of similar to the one below. I don't know if I will do the fringe trim or not. We'll see!

18th Century curtain-along!
A bunch of places like Lowe's, Amazon, and Joanne's have fabric and/or curtains in a beautiful 18th-century-esque pattern. Jen Thompson is organizing a sewing curtain-along since several people are making 18th century outfits with this fabric!
Check out her blog entry here for more details and examples of clothing with this sort of Indienne print fabric: http://www.festiveattyre.com/2012/09/the-curtain-along-is-go.html
I bought some of the creme color-way, though I really like the blue (but it's way more expensive).
Jen also has a bunch of pins of blogs and in progress pics on pinterest.
Here's the graphic from Jen's page - head over there for more!
P.S. Loren pointed out that a bunch of us have gowns and petticoats made from cotton embroidered Target curtains - clearly my curtain petticoat needs to be worn with whatever dress I make out of these Lowes curtains!
