In January, our guild had an "Out with the old" challenge, where we were to use up some of the oldest fabric in our stash. Back when I first started quilting (I think around 2006), I bought four packages of 100 floral 4" charm squares on eBay. The person selling them was putting them up

I started a colorwash with rectangle shapes to talk about on my last live session Thursday. I still need to fill in with squares at tops and bottoms of rows. It rained part of the day yesterday and I ignored the damaged garden and continued playing. By 11 p.m. I had all of the rectangles filled in and now I'll get the squares and fill in. It could use one more vertical row on the left side so I'll consider that today. It will lose 8.5" in width when sewn and 6" in length. I'll probably…

Paul: What does your week look like, babe? Me: Very busy. Paul: How so? Me: Well, I have dinner plans on Monday, guild meeting on Tuesday, Yoga class on Thursday, massage on Friday and I am going to Baltimore on Saturday to see Mari. Paul: So nothing on Wednesday? Me: Nothing yet. Paul (mischievously): It is hump day. Me: It can be. Quiltwise, Colorwash Flimsy is finished. I will write a complete blogpost when the quilt is finished. Sharing with all my favorite linky parties, see full list…

I love it when a whole lot of scraps come together into a quilt top! Last month I started sewing together a bunch of 4 patches in a rainbow of colors. My only requirement was that each block was in a single colorway and contained only two fabrics - a solid and a print. I really had no plan in place when I started sewing. My goal was to just sew up some scraps! Well, I have sewn up all those little 4 patches into a quilt top! If I knew this was going to be the finished layout when I started…

It's a quilt top! It ended up 36" x 45". I used some wild and weird batik in this colorwash and a lot of the pieces are from 20 years ago. The center is more blendy in person than in a photo. My small Narcissus flowers are just ending their blooming season. I had a lot more flowers than I normally do. My peonies are bigger and bushier and have more buds than usual this year too. I guess that means they all liked the long winter and cold spring.

Here's another Scrap Snap Quilt I made as a custom request. This quilt goes through a lot of scraps! I like to use at least 14 different prints in each color so I ended up having to cut some green, orange, and pink. With all the scrappy quilts I have been making, my choices are getting slim. I know this is a terrible picture, but it's been raining like crazy and I just wanted a quick photo of the back to remember that I added this beautiful rainbow strip. (I would have been smart to take it…

I made a Colorwash of exclusively Kaffe Fassett fabrics many of which are early and out of print. It is not the Kaffe Collective which includes fabric by Brandon Mably and Philip Jacobs. It is exclusively Kaffe. This wallhanging is made from the kit of 2.5" squares that will be offered to students of Colorwash 360. I used one of the larger prints on the back and I thought the black Fern print was perfect for the binding. Are you interested in making a Colorwash wallhanging too? If you…

For those who may not know, I have a small (large) obsession with Anna Maria Horner. I have a full fat quarter set of every collection from Good Folks forward. She basically can do no wrong. However, my collection just sits on its pedestal (entire shelf) and stares at me. I can't cut it because I can't restock it. At the beginning of this year when the #economyblockalong started, I got brave. And this happened. O my goodness. It is amazing. Here's how it came to be. I took all the AMH off…
