Fold out breakfast bar

Here we replaced the entire kitchen worktops and created a breakfast bar. The leg of the breakfast bar is a continuation of the worktop. Worktops are real oak and are from Howdens. They look beautiful but trying to maintain the wood is a bit of a nightmare, especially with water marks around the sink. About 3 months after having them installed, we had to completely sand them back and re-oil due to marks on the wood.

For example, I had the idea of making small, 22 X24 plywood boxes about 16 inches deep, and setting them between my floor joists with trap door lids. They could even be made of cedar plywood.
