Basalt columns are really amazing rock formations that look like they were made by a sculptor. It’s a very hard rock, almost as hard as diamond. When volcanic lava cools down on the surface, it turns into basalt, which is dark because it’s got a lot of iron and magnesium in it. Kinda like hot chocolate that hardens when you pour it onto a plate. Isn’t that fascinating?
