Owning a historic, 110-year-old home is an honor of a lifetime and with that privilege, also comes responsibility. This year I'm tackling some repairs to do my part in making sure my home will last the next 100 years.

Our first home was a quaint little bungalow built in 1900, but the mustard yellow walls and cave-like kitchen were not so quaint. After tearing everything out, we built a dream kitchen for our little home. Here is our bungalow kitchen remodel before and after tour.

John and Jami’s 1925 Craftsman had a kitchen that hadn’t been updated in any significant way since the 1950s. The couple hired local tradespeople to renovate the room and acted as apprentices on the job to keep costs down and acquire some renovation skills… First up: the cabinets. Upon moving into the house, there were mouse droppings in the uppermost cabinets and it was apparent to John and Jami that new cabinets were the way to go.
