Yes! Absolutely. Communicator is a fully standalone smartphone that runs Android 17, with all the apps, 5G connectivity and Wi-fi. We think many people will use this as their primary phone while others will use it as a complement to a flagship iPhone, Galaxy, Pixel, etc.

Communicator will be available in QWERTY (English), AZERTY (French), QWERTZ (German), Korean and Arabic keyboard layouts. You will select your keyboard layout at checkout

At the operating system level, Communicator supports a number of languages, including: Arabic, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Faroese, French, Finnish, German, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Slovak, Swedish, Turkish, Chinese Simplified/Traditional (Pinyin).

Keyboard layout availability is tied to region, so if QWERTZ, AZERTY, Arabic & Korean aren't showing up as an option, you'll need to switch to a region where it's supported before placing your order.

To do this, change your region using the selector at the top of the page - for example, select Germany if you want a QWERTZ layout, or France if you want AZERTY. Once you've switched regions, you'll be able to select that keyboard layout and place your order as normal.

Communicator will launch on Android 17, with support for up to at least Android 20. We’re committing to a minimum of 4 years of Android version updates and 5 years of security updates.

Voice over internet calling (like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook) will carry over from your primary phone. If you want to make and receive traditional phone calls over cellular networks, a second SIM/phone number will be required.

Yes! Communicator will support both a physical (nano) SIM card and eSIM. The nano-SIM slot is found beneath the back cover. Both SIMs can be active at the same time.

At this stage of development it’s too early to project battery life. Battery life has been a core design priority from day one. That’s why we’re combining a 4,350 mAh lithium ion battery with a 4.03” AMOLED display and a modern 4-nanometer SoC that will work together to deliver an efficient power management experience.

Through our testing, we found that silicon carbon battery chemistry fails commonly accepted battery tests at a higher rate than more reliable lithium-ion batteries - so we made the switch. Read more here.

Communicator uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 (MT8883), a modern 4-nanometer, 5G IoT SoC platform. The MT8883 has been selected for its smooth multitasking, consistent responsiveness and strong efficiency with plenty of performance to spare.

Yes, in addition to QWERTY (English), Communicator will be available in AZERTY (French), QWERTZ (German), Korean and Arabic keyboard layouts. You will choose your preferred keyboard layout when you configure your Communicator color closer to shipping later this year.

For deposit reservations and new orders, these are calculated at checkout in regions where we're able to offer this service.
