Darning used to be the practise of mending a hole in a garment by carefully stitching colour matching interwoven yarns across each other so that the darning blended into the fabric and becomes almost invisible. ⁣ ⁣ I have recently come across the concept of 'visible mending'. A creative and interesting way of mending clothing. The resulting artwork can make you fall in love with an item of clothing again, wearing your beautiful darn as a badge of honour and extending the life of your…

I was still bummed out about the hole, though, so I decided to knit some fun elbow patches to cover it up (and to protect the other elbow from getting holes too). I've seen various iterations of heart-shaped elbow patches on sweaters in stores and on the internet, but I haven't seen any…

Arounna Khounnoraj on Instagram: "Here’s John with his newly mended elbow. You don’t have to do anything to the edge it won’t fray. This has already been washed and it turned out fine. Make sure your patched fabric is about 3/4 inch bigger all around. His other elbow is starting to develop a hole so I’ll mend it to match this one 😄💙 check out my recent reel to give this tutorial a try 👍🏼"
