For Kumamoto prefecture, what else could I introduce than the area’s mighty castle? The stronghold has stood the test of time and weathered many a storm and earthquake over the years. While it sustained heavy damage in the 2016 earthquake, even this wasn’t enough to completely fell the mighty structure. Nevertheless, much of the compound was heavily compromised with some portions collapsing entirely. The castle is a 15 minute street car ride from Kumamoto Station or a 40 minute bus ride from Kumamoto International Airport.
