Kojagari Lakshmi Puja holds special significance and has lots of memories attached, especially for the East Bengali Hindus who had to leave their ancestral home, land behind because of the Jihadi Islamists attacks. On this day, Ma Lakshmi is worshipped in big way (obvious as this Puja is very close to our East Bengalis..much like their identity. Ladies draw beautiful alpona (rangoli) and welcome Ma Lakshmi at midnight. Not to forget, Noakhali riots had started on this auspicious day.
