Mixing different stains to remove red tones in 100 year red oak hardwood floor that was in bad shape. Used 1 part Varathane "Aged Wheat" & 4 parts Varathane "Antique White" oil based stains. Couldn't find any good examples of stain colors on red oak so I made them! I am looking for a medium stain with less orange undertones, and have found combinations of stains to be the best bet. Keep in mind the oil based poly will make the stains a bit darker and a bit more honey colored.
