My obsession with this type of aesthetic stems from so many things that appeal to me, The structure, the mix of textures, the colour palette are just rich and elegant and sumptuous and inspiring. It puts me in mind of dark wood, sharp tailoring, Vanessa Ives in floor length taffeta. . . old maps, whispered legends, expectation, incredible creatures that exist but usually only seen in the line illustrations of aged books. (I'm looking at you, giraffes) Abundance but not really excess.
