Cheers!

Me: Gosh… why i keep farting today?

Girl: Maybe your tummy is practicing cheers since daddy coming home today (from biz trip)… 3 cheers for daddy … POOT POOT POOT!

LOL!!!

Overheard…

Boy shouting across the room: Jiejie (sister), let’s play Barbie dolls!! …

Man to me: That’s so wrong!!! -_-”

LOL.

Incorrigible

Two weeks ago…
I was stretching myself while sitting on the couch, watching tv with the girl, and I noticed something obscene..

Me: OMG!! WHY my tummy so big now??????
Girl in her usual calm voice: Is this the part that I should tell you, “Congratulations? Is it a baby brother or baby sister I’m going to have?” *giggles*
Me: -_-”

Two days later…
Again, I was sitting on that same couch, eating my favorite Doritos chips… (Man… those chips are addictive!)
Boy came up to me and said, “Mama, u shouldn’t eat any more chips. Your tummy is very big already.
Me:-_-”

Yesterday….
I was lying down on the same couch, watching my favorite NCIS show…
Kentang 爸爸 (my DH) came up to me, and with a evil grin… “I believe in retribution. Look at your tummy!!! I think U should watch exercise channel instead!”, he said.

Ma De!!! #$)(^*)(*#$#
My tummy is not that big lah! It’s just pre-menstruation bloated-ness, CAN OR NOT!! *ROAR*

*sheepishly…
Maybe I need to cut down on snacks…

Snacks… snacks…. snacks…
I think we still have some shrimp crackers in the snack box! Hmm….

Yes, I too, like many of my blogger friends, caught the “步步惊心” bug.

It has been a long while since I am so crazy about anything! DH said he has never seen me “worked so hard” after college days. And I agree! LOL!!

I completed the whole drama series in 3 days, finished reading the entire novel in another 3 days and spent some more time watching any related news reports and video clips. I am so obsessed that I even called my dear husband, “四爷!”, which he finds it very amusing! LOL!

Anyway, my Kentang hubby had absolutely no clue why I kept calling him “四爷” and below conversation took place when i first called him that name….

Me: 四爷, you are back (from work)!! (complete with a Chinese way of curtsey)
DH: -_-” simi sai?? What did u call me again?
Me: 四爷, you are my 四爷 lor!
DH: Hmm… (in serious tone) I’m NOT your 爷爷!! I’m your 老公!
(I almost died from laughing too much!!)
Me: Of course I’m not calling you my ah gong (grandfather) lah!!! Haha!! 四爷 means 四王爷 and that means a Prince lah! LOL
DH: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH I See!!! 🙂

LOL!!

my little girl a first grader now!

*Backdated post*
Can’t believe how time flies! My little girl is now a first grader! *tears of joy*

P1000645-1

Sometimes I can be a bit of a drama mama. A week before school term started, I was the one with the “back-to-school” jitters and separation anxiety. 😳 I was in such bad mood that I couldn’t bring myself to do anything at all. Because this would be the first time that my daughter will be away from me for more than 3 hours and not having lunch at home with me when she is at school. The thought of not having her around me most of the time, really made me anxious. 😦

Anyway, I’m so glad that my beloved DH saw that and planned an impromptu weekend getaway trip to Vermont to let us all relax and enjoy the last few days of our summer vacation. (Thank you, dear!) After the wonderful trip (will try to blog about it soon), I was able to pull my acts together and plan something nice for the big girl to welcome the new school year with her. (Yes, it is a big deal!!)

The day before school, I took my little vainpot to get some new dress and shirts so that she would at least be excited about wearing new dress to school. 🙂 Then, of course, to make her first lunch experience at school a good one, I made her a sushi bento and also sent in a simple heart shape origami lunch box note along with it. This little girl absolutely loves to receive a lunchbox note from me. 🙂

So, the “big day” came and went. When I picked her up from school in the mid afternoon, the excited first grader couldn’t stop talking about how much fun she had on her first day school and how she enjoyed her lunch. Aww…

I feel so happy and relieved to know that my girl has a great start of school. 🙂

然后很认真的对着我们说:”What is this?! Tsk tsk tsk… ”

This is what will happen…

1. when you ask the man to comb the boy’s hair…

He will look like a Cheena man.

2. when you ask the girl to do her own hair.

She will look like a siao chabor.

LOL 😆

4th July 2010

It was a really hot day on 4th July.

When DH suggested bringing the children to the Holman Stadium in Nashua NH to see the 4th of July fireworks, I was really reluctant. Firstly, the fireworks only happened at 9pm, which was the kids’ bedtime, and secondly, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the fireworks since the heat was really quite unbearable to me. Strange to many, but I really can’t stand heat and humidity at all even though I am a true blue Singaporean. I will get very cranky and highly irritable when the weather gets too hot and humid.

BUT… being a good mother (ahem!), when I saw how excited the kids were, I couldn’t say no and so off we went to Holman at 8pm. Of course, not without bringing something to cool myself down i.e. icy cold coke and water, and my favorite Doritos chips and fruits along. 😛

When we reached the stadium, it was already quite crowded. We found our spot and it was the first time that the boy “test-sit” on his very own captain chair.

Since we still had some time to kill, the kids went to play soccer with their doting dad…

Then, the girl enjoyed some sparklers fun.

I love the colors of the sky! It was actually quite late already, ard 8.30pm… Love it when we have longer days.

The boy was too timid to try the sparklers. Sigh. So, he just kept running around the field…

Until he was tired. Then, we had some snack and drinks…

This boy can never get enough of the Doritos… like me. 😛

Then, suddenly…. Ping! Pong! Piang!! Fireworks started.

Wow… beautiful fireworks!

I’m so thankful that we made this trip! Not only did we get to spend quality time with each other, we also had an amazing time enjoying the fireworks.

I hope I will remember this day and will do it again next year with more willingness and enthusiasm. 😛

Franklin Park Zoo

Two weeks ago, we brought the kids to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and we had a really lovely time there. 🙂

Of course, this city zoo is nothing like the world class zoos like Singapore Zoological Gardens. It doesn’t not have a huge impressive animal collections but if you visit with the right attitudes (“relax and enjoy”) and lower your expectations, you can still enjoy the zoo. 🙂

The exhibit that we enjoyed most is the indoor Gorilla habitat. We were able to see the gorillas within close proximity of the glass panel. We spent quite some time observing the gorillas and through our conversations with a zoo keeper, we found out that there are many things the gorillas are similar to human, like how they love to check humans out through the glass panel too. LOL

According to this zoo keeper, the silver back male gorilla (the one on the bottom left corner of the above pix) loves to look at women, while the female gorillas find older men with gray hair, very attractive. No wonder Miss Kiki, the gorilla on the bottom right corner, was looking at my “silver head” DH “affectionally” when he was around. LOL. 😆

We also love the Kalahari Kingdom and Giraffe Savannah where we saw a lion, a white tiger and a bangali tiger, some giraffes, bongos, zebras, and ostrichs.

After a while, we decided to take a break to have our lunch (hot dog buns, fruits and eggs) at a covered picnic pavillion.

Half way through our picnic lunch, a special visitor came by!

Earlier on, the girl saw someone found a peacock feather and yearned to have one too. So, when the peacock came by, she quickly followed the bird around, hoping that she could have one of its feather. Haha.

Since they were just following the peacock aimlessly. I decided to take some leftover buns to let the children feed it instead. After the peacock had enough of the bun, it moved away into the plantation. The persistent girl didn’t give up, she just kept following the bird until…

she got hold of a beautiful peacock feather! HAHA. This really made her day. She couldn’t stop smiling after that. 🙂

As I mentioned earlier, this zoo is rather small. We found out that we only had the Children’s Zoo (Franklin Farm) section to explore. Nothing fantastic to talk about this “farm”. We just saw some donkeys, horses, goats, sheep, mice and owls and the kids played on the barn slide. That’s about it.

Before we headed home, we stopped by the “Giddy-Up Grill” picnic tables to have some snack of strawberries and homemade strawberries yogurt ice, which I thought would turn into smoothie since that day was quite hot (about 80F). The kids loved the cold treats.

But the man….

didn’t know how to appreciate the goodness of this yummy-licious yogurt ice at all. Chey!

My cheeky boy with a huge mozzie bite on his cheek.

our first fishing experience

Recently we spotted some people fishing at the pond near where we stayed. Both DH and the girl got really interested and so without delaying, we went to get our first fishing rod on that very evening. By the next day, which was a work week day, the man came home real early because he couldn’t wait till the next weekend to try out his new fishing rod. It was such an impromptu decision and since I had already cooked our dinner, I decided to just packed our dinner into food savers and bring it to the beach so that we could have it there instead. 🙂

After a few practice throws, DH helped the girl to cast her very first fishing rod.

And guess what? In just 5 mins of casting and reeling, the girl caught her first wide mouth bass!!

Reeling in the fish.

This is the girl’s catch.

The bass that the girl caught was quite big, probably about 1.5-2lbs and 12″ long. We could have brought it home but we decided to let it go because… I couldn’t bear to let it die. 😛

While the girl and DH continued to fish, the boy got bored and so I brought him to play sand instead. He loves sand play and he often imagines his sea creature molds as train engines and he would build a “Gordon Hill” and some train tracks.

After a while, hunger striked. So, the boy and I went back to our picnic mat to have our dinner. The food was getting cold, so I called the girl back to have the dinner with us too and obviously, you could tell from these photos that the girl was reluctant to sit and watch her daddy went fishing without her. 😛

Half way through our dinner, the man signalled to us that he caught another fish! Being a good father he is, he let the girl reeled his fish in too!

This fish that DH caught was slightly bigger than the one the girl caught. It looked really healthy (no black dots on scales etc) and was estimated to be about 2lbs and 14″ long.

The man looking really pleased with his first catch! 🙂

This time both the man and the girl insisted on bringing it home, even though I tried to persuade them to release it back to the pond. Of course, majority rules. *sigh*

null
On the top right picture, DH wanted the girl to hold the fish by its mouth, but being the girly girl she is, she was scared to do it. LOL I must say she is already a lot braver than me. I couldn’t go near the fish, and I couldn’t hold that plastic bag either. Throughout the 2mins car ride home, I was really scared of looking at the fish. Eewk!

The fish was dead by the time we brought it home. I couldn’t do the first cut and so DH had to do it. After seeing how clumsy he was with the knife, I braved myself and took over the fish cleaning i.e. gut, scale and clean. Here’s the picture of the before and after picture. We had this fish for dinner the next day. 😉

I think this was probably the freshest fish we ever had in years and probably the yummiest too. There was no fishy smell and the meat just melt in the mouth. So, if you ask me if I would bring back the fish the man or kids catch, the answer is… YES!

In case you are wondering why I don’t think I will be the one to catch a fish…

Well… what will likely happen when I cast a fishing rod is that…
instead of casting it into the water, I would cast it on …
a tree. -_-

So, don’t waste the hook, bait and the string la!

Conversations : Tall

CM: You have to eat more, Girl. Then u will grow up big and strong.

Girl : I’m already eating a lot!

CM : Not really! U know why Joseph Kor Kor so big and tall? Because he eats a lot! He is of the same age as you but yet so much taller than you. So, u must eat more.

Girl *pause to think*: Mama, Joseph Kor Kor is taller because he is a KOR KOR (elder brother). So, he HAS to be taller than me.

CM -_-“… : Then Chen Yee Didi also taller than you! He is a Didi (younger brother), so why is he taller than u?

Girl : Chen Yee Didi is taller just because Papa said Ah Dioh (his daddy, my brother-in-law) stretched and pulled him too much! When you stretch a rubber band (elastic band) too much, it cannot go back to normal size already. Poor Chen Yee, he is a chew nee (elastic band in hokkien). *shake her head*

CM: Tsk tsk tsk… Don’t be so mean! Chen Yee is not a chew nee!! -_-

Girl giggles.
Man laughed.
Me… vomit blood.
