Stampalot June Challenge

Well, our Medals and Monarchs theme for last month's Stampalot Challenge must have flummoxed many of you, as there were only 59 entries! Or maybe you were just too busy out enjoying the lovely sunshine we've had over the past couple of weeks. Anyway, I think you'll find this month's theme a bit easier. It's

COLOUR BINGO

Here's the grid. The brief is to choose a line in any direction, or the four corners, and incorporate those elements in your project. Please tell us in your post which you have chosen. See the  Challenge Blog for all the details and some great samples from the DT.

I've used the centre horizontal line - turquoise, polka dots and brown.

Sarah Kay image, coloured with Promarkers and cut out with a Nestie frame, Ella Blue papers ( by g c d studios), a couple of ribbons, Prima flowers and a sentiment by Paula Pascual. Of course, normally I don't do cute, but the Sarah Kay image just seemed to go so well with the lovely weather!

As usual there's a great prize on offer, and it's something a bit different!

It can be used as a big kit to make your own calendar, but it can equally be used in parts in several smaller projects.  It includes a blank calendar (for any year), loads of Basic Grey papers, buttons, ribbon, K&Co stickers, month & motif rubons, several glue types, gelatos etc., etc.

Hopefully it will inspire lots of entries this month! I look forward to seeing them all.

Paper Roses

Yes, I know, I should be making Christmas cards, but after seeing Brenda demonstrate her beautiful paper roses at the Sir Stampalot Demo Day on Saturday, I just had to have a go at making some for myself. I bought the required 1" flower punch at the demo, and made a couple with that. Then I remembered that I already had the matching tiny one, so I made a tiny rose too.

I couldn't resist buying another Sarah Kay stamp, and thought that she and the roses would go well together. The tiny rose became a perfect decoration for her hat. She seemed to be looking for something, and just then a butterfly alighted close by. I coloured Sarah and the butterfly with Promarkers. A few leaves and star flowers completed the picture. The background paper is by Papermania, and the butterfly is from Craftwork Cards.

Anyway, must go. Got an owl to shrink......

Just for once

I don't do cute. It just doesn't appeal much to me. Most of my work is likely to be nature-inspired, or tending towards "arty", but when I found this Sarah Kay stamp at a show the other day I had to make an exception. Until she got married & changed her surname, my daughter was Sarah K! When she was young she collected all the Sarah Kay stickers. We still have the album. I just had to buy the stamp as it reminded me so much of her childhood.

I painted the picture with Twinkling H2Os & stamped the base card with a flourish from the "Choko" Japanese Doll set by Craftwork Cards. The frame was cut with my Nestabilities and I embellished the card with some sheer ribbon and a few Prima flowers.

Hmmm. Maybe cute is growing on me......
