Nymphalidae is a taxonomic Family of close to 5000 species of butterflies that are distributed throughout the world. They include popular species such as the emperors, monarchs, viceroys and blue morpho. Most species have a reduced pair of forelegs causing them to be known as four-footed butterflies. Many species are brightly colored and display the colorful side of their wings when resting. However, the underwings are in contrast often dull and in some species look remarkably like dead leaves, which helps them blend into their surroundings.[1]
