When we started Credo Beauty in 2014 we set out to change an underregulated beauty industry to push brands to do better by people and our planet with The Credo Clean Standard™.
Ten years later, what have we accomplished?
We actively support sustainability through responsible sourcing, minimizing waste, and supporting efforts to protect ecosystems, ensuring that the beauty industry contributes to a healthier world for future generations. In 2021, we co-founded Pact Collective, the first-ever beauty industry-wide packaging recycling program, to take responsibility for hard-to-recycle empties that curbside programs won’t accept.

We offer products that meet the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and sustainability.
By focusing on clean ingredients and rigorous testing, we work hard to ensure that every product is not only effective but also safer for both you and the environment.
Learn MoreDid you know that some beauty ingredients are linked to human health or environmental risks?
We believe that’s unacceptable. In partnership with ChemForward, we’re increasing ingredient transparency and promoting safer alternatives. With ChemForward’s data repository and verified SAFERTM program, we help our brands avoid harmful chemicals and choose safer options. We’re also leading the way as a founding member of the Know Better, Do Better initiative to address gaps in ingredient hazard data, working towards ensuring that all beauty ingredients are thoroughly evaluated for safety.

We actively participate in advocacy efforts to influence state and federal cosmetics regulations. We’ve testified in many legislative settings to push for stricter safety standards in the beauty industry including testifying on Capitol Hill in 2024 to push for increased innovation for sunscreen active ingredients in the US. We also supported the landmark Toxic-Free Cosmetics Acts in California, Washington, and Oregon, which ban harmful chemicals like PFAS, formaldehyde, and mercury in beauty products.

Through our Credo Clean Standard™, our partnerships, and our brand partners we’re showing how industry-wide change is possible, and already in motion. But scale requires action. Brands, retailers, policymakers, and consumers all play a role in demanding better.
