Swedana, which means ‘to perspire or sweat’ is an integral part of the Panchakarma treatment. In this treatment, the patient is exposed to steam which helps to open the pores, flush out impurities, and improve blood circulation. It is usually followed by an Ayurvedic oil massage which helps the medicinal oils penetrate deeper through the now open pores.
