Nicole Hettinger on Instagram: "Treating bumblefoot in chickens. Bumblefoot can occur when a chicken gets a cut or scrape on their foot. It then gets infected and creates almost like an abscess on the bottom of their foot. It’s fairly easy to treat so don’t worry! We start by soaking the foot in a bath of warm water and epsom salt. 5 minutes is a good place to start, but a worse case could require a longer soak. Once the foot has been soaked for a bit, find the problem area and gently push on the opposite side of the mass, slowly working it out. It will be scab-like, so you should be able to gently push it out. If you’re having trouble, a longer epsom soak may help! Once the mass has been removed, I like to clean the area really well with rubbing alcohol.
