Visual metaphor

British illustrator John Holcroft has worked for the BBC, The Gaurdian, and Reader’s Digest among other media outlets. His retro style approach to socially-relevant issues is what makes his work memorable.

I think this overall is a clever idea for an ad. The big picture of the teeth as dice really caught my attention. It has a serious tone with the choice of color and reflect the seriousness of the situation that its trying to convey. The crest tube and box outline and lead you eye to the smaller text. The hierarchy of text works well too, having the slogan first intrigues the reader to keep reading.

Whether we want to turn a blind eye to some things or not, we can't deny that today's society is ridden with various issues. To escape harsh reality, we tend to bury ourselves in the virtual world, but even there you will be faced with some harsh truths that some artists will invite you to think through.

Madison Kovac: this is an “analogy/visual metaphor” advertisement because the lid is placed to look like a moon because it is an ad for a night cream.
