Another absolute winner for Slumberland! Punkish Soft Boys-meets-Henry's Dress splendor! Like a dirty Velocity Girl kicking out lo-fi-ish Kinks-y jangle-noise. Sometimes it reminds me of a garage / budget-rock version of early 80's REM with hints of the Primitives. oh, and there's tambourines. Tambourines are lovely. Really are. The Reds, Pinks & Purples invoke a very particular moment of the post-C86/Sarah Records outpost of “college rock” before grunge became the de facto form of “alt rock”.
