The introspective new direction was inspired after Dan Shake relocated from London to Devon where a newfound feeling of escapism and an appreciation for nature allowed him to experiment with his own sound more than ever before, including using his own vocals at the forefront for the very first time.
Historically, Dan’s releases have mainly been primed for maximum impact on the dancefloor, and while what’s to come will deliver just as solidly, it’s from a more introspective place and it hits differently.
‘Verde’ is a representation of Dan “expressing myself without a need to fuel specific dance floor moments, rather make music purely for the love of making music again” he explains. “It’s the most natural track I’ve ever written. Relocating to Devon and being surrounded by nature has really altered my creativity, like starting fresh.”
Topping off what has undoubtedly been Dan’s biggest year to date with a Mixmag Cover, a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, and a BBC Radio 1 Residency, ‘Verde’ is the perfect soundtrack heading into into club season, and a sign of what’s to come on the musical spectrum of Dan Shake in 2023
