- Can I use Datadef for free?
- Yes, without an account. The scratch canvas gives you 1 AI diagram and 2 AI edits a day, the full manual editor, and PNG, JPEG and JSON export. Pasting SQL, Prisma or Terraform counts as the day's diagram. An account is Pro or Team: signing up starts a 7-day free trial, card required.
- What does Pro include?
- Everything: unlimited AI diagrams and AI edits under fair use, detailed mode, saved projects and folders, AI import, repository sync that keeps diagrams current with the code, live embeds that update themselves, sharing and public links, the MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, Claude and ChatGPT, version history, and exports. It costs $12 a month, or $96 a year, which is $8 a month.
- How does the free trial work?
- Pro and Team start with 7 days free. A card is required to start the trial. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged; otherwise the first payment is taken when the trial ends. There is one trial per person.
- Is there a price for students and teachers?
- Yes. Sign up with your school email (.edu, .ac.uk, a university domain and the like) and Pro is half price: $48 a year or $6 a month, with the same 7-day free trial. The price is applied at checkout on its own; there is no code to enter. Team has no education price.
- What does unlimited under fair use mean?
- There is no counter to watch during normal work. A daily ceiling sits far above what one person does by hand, and it exists to stop automated abuse. Reaching it pauses AI until the next day; nothing else stops.
- What happens if I cancel?
- Pro stays active until the end of the trial or of the period already paid for. After that your diagrams stay in your account: you can open them, export them and delete them, and public links and embeds keep serving. Editing, AI and repository sync wait until you subscribe again.
- How does the Team plan work?
- One flat price, $99 a month for up to 5 seats, held by the owner. Every member gets everything in Pro, plus a shared workspace, need-to-know folders that only the people added to them can open, and member management. It has the same 7-day free trial, and the owner can cancel from the billing portal at any time.
- Does the MCP server need a subscription?
- Connecting to it and listing its tools is open, so your client can see what it offers. Using the tools to create, edit or export diagrams needs Pro or Team, trial included.
- Can I get an invoice?
- Every payment comes with a receipt from Polar, our payment partner and merchant of record, and business details can be added at checkout.
