No Sleaze Please

 Two deliveries are expected today:  Biggie's meds by FedEx (he loves FedEx drivers) and a case of wine from St. Michelle Winery in Washington (the state, not the city) by UPS.  Both dogs love UPS drivers, in fact I don't doubt for a second that if the dogs held a competition between the two, UPS drivers would easily top FedEx drivers.  Don't ask me why that is, I don't know.

I also bought myself a new wireless keyboard and mouse.  The old ones had wires and I am literally trying to be done with wires.  

I've also set up a YouTube channel.  I can import any length video from YouTube into Blogger, but there are severe limitations when trying to import them from my phone.  So, I'm resorting to this work around.  We'll have to see how much fun this is.  If I have an enjoyable time, I may make it public.

Did everybody get a chance to see Lindsey Graham ask Kitanji Brown Jackson about her faith yesterday?  His attack was clearly to appease the Cracker Jack Crazies who were upset that Amy Cony Boney was asked a similar question.  People were very concerned that Cony Bony was nominated not so much for her fairness, as she was to push religious zealotry on America.  Let's be honest here, while Conservatives are terribly upset  about her being black, they are horrified she might take away some of the zealotry they have already packed into the court.  Here's the clip if you want to watch.  This is what sleaze looks like.

 So, I ended up sleeping in late again this morning... and I went to bed early, no staying up watching mult-episode series on Netflix or Amazon Prime.  I did go for a 12.5 mile ride yesterday.  Since my treadmill is now dysfunctional, I'm back to riding more.

I also baked another loaf of Italian bread.  Why buy when you can bake?  I'm using the Italian yeast I bought during the lockdown, when you couldn't buy yeast in the store.  It works great!

And what about my title this morning?  Blessed.  In case some of you are wondering, I have not found that 'old time religion.'  But yesterday morning, when I returned home from grocery shopping, I paused to look at that rose climber I planted by my front porch.  It took 3 years, but it's bloom like Hell.  Then, one rose caught my eye.  Wow, I said, that one looks different.  Can you see what makes this rose special?

Back on Sunday, before going to work, I'd been look for restock dates for the Xbox Series X gaming console.  They're rare because of the chip shortage.  There are certain retailers I usually shop, Walmart is not one of them.  But on Sunday, I went to their website.  Wow!  They were in stock!  So I loaded that sucker into my cart, put in my credit card info, and pressed 'buy.'  A few seconds later I received this message:  "Sorry, we are now out of stock.  This item has been put into your 'save for later' file."  Honestly, I wasn't that upset since I know I'm going to buy one eventually.  Well, this morning I check my email and there's a notification from FedEx that my purchase from Walmart.com is out for delivery.  it should be here before 3 PM.  I have to wait and see just what it is they deliver.  Could it be Walmart made a mistake?  There is no charge on my credit card.  Son of a bitch!  I might really be Blessed.

I saw where a portion of the memo as to why Liar #45 was released, the meat and potatoes section being redacted.  We all know this was done to keep the Justice Department under Billy Barr was as corrupt as the phony president in the White House.

 And so the week begins, yeah, that's right, yesterday was my day of rest, well, on and off if you know what I mean.  I washed a couple loads of laundry, and got a 30 minute joggy / runny session in, and even had time to bake a blueberry pie with fresh blueberries.  The lattice looks a bit crappy since I'd never done anything like this before.  The recipe had the oven temp at 375 (F) with a note that said the original temp had been 425 (F) but had been adjusted down.  Well, I must have had too many blueberries because the lower temp didn't give the cornstarch a chance to thicken the sauce.  That's right, it's runny.  Later this morning I'll pour the sauce into a pan and heat it to hot enough temperature for the cornstarch to do its stuff.

I received a notification from FedEx that my new printer will be arriving on Wednesday.  I was scheduled to work, but will take a personal day since I need to sign for it.

The Idiot Jerk in the White House is expected to issue a flurry of pardons over the next 2 days, including pre-emptive 'get out of jail free' cards to his kids.  Of course, this makes them look horrific, but do you really think they care what you think?  Don't worry, they will be challenged in the courts.

And it seems many of those rioters who have been taken into custody are blaming the Idiot Jerk.  They are claiming his words spurred them on to violence.  What they really want is for him to give them pardons, too.  Remember, he doesn't like losers and, unfortunately for them, they got their asses arrested.  That's right, in his eyes their losers.  Ouch.

And finally, today is Martin Luther King Jr Day.  Notice, I didn't use initials.  To me, mlk sounds like something you might pick up at Dairy Queen.  I like the way the syllables ring out when you say his full name:  Martin Luther King.  Give him the respect he deserves.

HRM logistics

It's a beautiful day in Pennsylvania and, as usual on beautiful days, I have to work.

What makes this more crappy then usual is that my new HRM is due to be delivered today.  Originally it was supposed to arrive tomorrow so it'll be here a day early, which is nice.  Of course, I won't get to play around with it until I get home from work.

Currently I have a Garmin 405CX which suited me just fine, until a couple of months ago when problems began cropping up.  The GPS had issues connecting to satellites even outside on a clear sunny day.  I could deal with that.  But then it started locking up and the only way to fix it was to do a reset which meant losing a lot of data.  You changed screens by sliding your finger around the bezel and... well, stopped working.  And there were other little problems which just started to become aggravating so I said "enough," and ordered a new one.  It's a Garmin 220 Forerunner.

The logistics on how the new one is arriving are rather amusing.  It was shipped FedEx Smartpost from Allentown, PA, which is 89 miles, north east, of where I live.  It's route took it through Harrisburg (5 miles away) down to St. Martinsburg, WV, which is 91 miles to my south west.  It was then transferred to a truck which brought it back to Enola, the suburb in which I live, where it was... put on a truck to take it to the Post Office in Camp Hill, (again about 5 miles away).  In Camp Hill, the new HRM was put on a delivery truck which is, as I type, on its way back to Enola.  A little convoluted if you ask me.
