Is Gini Thomas miffed?

 Yesterday was a warm, sunny day.  I loved it!  With the temp hovering at 53 (F), Lily and I took a walk.  She loves walks.  Today's supposed to be warm, but we're not expecting to climb into the 50s (F) again.  Today's high is supposed to be climb up into the mid 40s (F), but that's fine.  Every warm day is one day less that I need to pay for heating my house.

I got a lot of things done yesterday, including a good cleaning of the tank in the living room.  I bought a UV light to help manage the algae in the writing room tank; it's so bad right now the water has a greenish tint.  In all of the years I've had aquariums, I've never had as much of an algae problem as I now have, but then they all had fluorescent lights, not the brilliant LED lights we have today.  Brighter lit tanks = more work.

Early yesterday afternoon, I had a nice conversation with my neighbor.  She's nice, but either limited, or very naive.  She told me she feels as though everybody is watching them, so I was honest and told her nobody in the neighborhood really cares what they do.  She complained that her son's room was "chilly," her word, not mine.  She said she bought a heater to keep it warm.  So I told her that before the renovation, it was an attic with no heat, and there's still no heat, and only one outlet.  If we have any really cold days, that's kid's going to freeze.  This is what happens when you don't pay for a Home Inspection.  

Because there is no soundproofing between our houses, I bought myself a gaming headset, which was actually a smart move.  The sound is so much clearer than what I heard just using the soundbar, so I'm thinking this was a very good investment.  

One of the things I find truly interesting is that the Supreme Court which Donald Trump, and the Republican party, loaded to be touchy feely friendly to the GOP has been failing to give them what they want, Supreme Status in America.  Of course the Court's biggest test is going to be Trump's immunity status.  They are on very thin ice right now, and I'm certain that one Justice in particular, namely Clarence Thomas, is all for saying that the white billionaire is right, and should be able to do what he wants.  Many legal experts are weighing in on the subject, and by far a majority of them are saying Trump isn't.  With this is mind, I'm wondering if Ginni Thomas is miffed.  I'm betting she is.  Let's be honest here, she's a white woman with terrible taste in cardigan sweaters who's just like her husband: she feels she's deserving.  Saying Trump is immune from anything and everything would open up the flood gates for all those grifts and bribes to come rolling into her open arms.  Many are saying Clarence should recuse himself, but he won't.  That would be an admission of guilt.  Besides, Ginni would never let him.

Oops!

 Yesterday was one of those unproductive days when all I really wanted to do was sit around and do nothing.  That isn't what happened though.  Even on my sluggard days I end up doing something.  

Today temps are supposed to climb into the upper 60s (F).  I need to mow my lawn.  The past week of either heavy rain, or on and off showers has made it grow... and grow.  This happens in the spring.  My rose bushes have many buds, and so do my peonies.  For the first time in 10 years both of my Itoh peonies will be blooming.  Their blooms are yellow.  I will take pictures.

Since I didn't have any, I ordered some red socks for cycling.

I made Chicken Saltimbocca last evening for dinner.  It was a first.  It looked great!  However, the combination of the sage and the prosciutto was not at all to my liking.  Actually, I thought it was terrible.  Just because something looks tasty doesn't mean it's going to be satisfying to the palate. 

While I was doing nothing yesterday, I also roasted a ham that will be used for various dishes over the next week.  This afternoon I'll be using it to make cheesy scalloped potatoes and ham that I will use for lunches on this weekend.  

And what about all of the continuous stream of shit about Clarence Thomas and his sow Ginni?  Barely a day seems to go by when another rock isn't turned over and more shit spills out.  Tuition for a foster son, or what ever he wants to call the young man?  Leo Leonard sending money her way and asking that she not be identified in the payments.  And I really don't mind throwing more water on that wet blanket they chose to cower under, but these two individuals are supposed to be devout Christians.  I'm wondering if they view all these bribes as Blessings?  There are Cracker Jack Crazies out there who are like that?  Believing God reward them for being what many consider selfish.  Who cares about ethics when there's an open checkbook waiting to pay your way through the Pearly Gates.

And evidently Trump had another one of his confidential golf course meetings in Scotland.  This one was very hush hush, not like the one in the rain in North Carolina... or was it Georgia, last year.  There was no wild ride on golf carts like at that meeting.  Nope.  There were not a lot of people.  Many are thinking this was because of his rape trial.  You know?  The one where, while in Ireland, he bragged about how he could go and testify?  The one where the judge in charge of the trial, hearing those comments told Trump he now has until Sunday to show up and testify?  Oops.

Oh, and not surprisingly, an important insider in the document case who was at Mar a Lago has flipped.  Oops!

Size 20 +

The end of September.  The month has past quickly, I think.  Time does seem to move faster as you grow older, but the past 4 weeks were gone in what seemed to be a finger snap.

Yesterday was interesting at work.  The renovation of the flooring department is... major.  So far, I'm not impressed.  Our desk is tiny.  There is no way one associate can design blinds for customers, while another keys in a flooring measure.  The desk was still in the process of being located into its final position.  Pictures tomorrow.

I started watching Andor last night on Disney.  It's okay.  Characters actually said 'bastard' and 'shit.'   There were 3 short episodes which were basically a introductory starter pack.  I will watch future episodes, though this isn't something that has be hanging on the edge of my seat.  Instead of watching each new episode weekly, I'll wait a couple of weeks.

Ian is going to hit South Carolina this afternoon.  For those of you in his path, persevere, his rains will pass.  He will be raining on Central PA tomorrow and Sunday.  With college football on TV on Saturday and Pro football teams playing Sunday, the store will most likely be slow.

Ginni testified before the Jan 6 committee yesterday.

For those of you who don't remember, she was going to set the record straight.  Well, it turns out that Ginni told the committee that she still believes the election was stolen.  She will never change her story.  She also told them she never discussed her political belief with Clarence.  Well, we all know that's horseshit, but then we all need to remember that Ginni's universe is, while seeming large, at least a size 20 +, in reality it is very small.

In fact, her universe is approximately the same size as that of Sammy Alito.  He just spoke his mind in a mini-tirade about the so-called integrity of the Supreme Court.  Sammy is upset that so many people are questioning the legitimacy of the court.  This is because in Sammy's mind, God is behind everything, including McConnell's decision sit on Merrick Garland's nomination, as well his his decision to throw out the filibuster in order to seat Amy Cony Bony.  In Sammy's universe, 1864 was a very good year.

And finally, for those who missed it, Judge Ailleen Cannon has decided that the Special Master her client, Donald Trump, wanted needs to be reigned in.  You see she thought Dearie was going to cozy in with her and the Trump defense team, and he didn't.  Since he didn't, she took matters into her own hands to create a delay.  She also decided that it wasn't really necessary for Trump to prove that the FBI planted the documents he claims to have declassified.  She is the essence of corruption.

Clarence Thomas? Evil Incarnate?

 Can you believe that it's Wednesday already?  I can't.  I'm scheduled to work an 8-hour shift tomorrow and am not feeling too enthusiastic.

Yesterday was Busy.  Notice the capital B.  I had lunch with my cousin and her husband.  Her birthday's next month, so she's a bit older than me.  When she and I were young our very progressive grandmother took us places, young being around 10 years old.  Taking the two of us on a 2-hour train ride to the Philadelphia Zoo was an undertaking.  Neither one of us remembers the trip in its entirety, but then that was a long, long time ago.

Then, last evening, I went to see Jordan Peele's latest "Nope."  I really liked it.  That being said, my friend thought it dragged and did not like Emerald, the character played by Keke Palmer.  I liked Emerald, a woman wanting to be an authority who learns that survival has not thing to do with authority, a woman who discovers her street smarts might be the wrong smarts if she wants to stay alive.  Casting is excellent.  I liked Bandon Perea as Angel, who learns that staying alive has its own sharp barbs.  Daniel Kaluuya, whose quiet, brooding silence hides his inner strength.  He's much smarter than his sister, Emerald.  "Nope" is not for everybody.  Oh, and in case you're wondering, it is science fiction and there's a lot more action than horror, in fact I didn't think it was scary at all... just very intense.

For those who missed it, yesterday legislation was introduced in the House of Representative which, if passed will limit the tenure of judges on the Supreme Court.  A judge would serve for 18 years and only 18 years and would begin immediately.  This means Clarence Thomas would be retired, as would any other judge who has already served his / her 18 years.  This will probably pass in the House if voted on quickly enough.  Democrats will need to win at least 2 more seats in the Senate to get it passed there.  This means you need to vote Blue this fall.

And finally, another leak, so to speak.  Evidently beer boy Kavanaugh was on the fence regarding the Dobb's decision, however the early leak of Alito's draft listing him as voting with the majority killed the chances of that happening, something about his selling out to the Liberals.  With this knowledge, I'm betting the leak originated with Thomas, or more likely his sow Ginni.  I do think quite a few believed this was the case.  Now, more than ever, the two of them do seem to be evil incarnate.

The Surprise

 So, the five hours I spent at work yesterday were more of an inconvenience than anything else.  11 AM to 4 PM really takes the wrong chunk out of my day.  I don't mind being scheduled in the mornings or afternoons but losing the middle of the day really bothered me.  I had no desire to either start or continue a project before I left for work, and the same was true when I got home.  The fact that the five hours I spent at the flooring desk turned out to be uneventful marriage of boring and blasé didn't help.  This happens sometimes.

Temperature wise, we did get up into the mid 90s (F).  Even though forecasters were calling for rain, we had none.  That meant watering my little garden, which has so far produced only 1 tomato and 1 green pepper.  Some of the branches on my peach tree are dying.  Son of a bitch.  

There was, however, one nice surprise.  Two months ago, I had planted an elephant ear believing it would grow large, cutting down the amount of lawn I'd have to mow.  Well, nothing happened.  For two months.  I thought the plant had just died.  And then yesterday morning as I was taking out the garbage, I found this, and while it's only about 5 inches long, it's nice to know it didn't die.

As for politics, we are heading into the summer doldrums.  Congress will be going onto vacation shortly.  Will any legislation get passed?  That's difficult to pass.  I know many are hoping that the Marriage Equality Act gets a vote.  A lot of Evangelical leaders are pushing against it, and they represent a voting bloc the Republicans have courted for years.  However, that little decision the Supreme Court made regarding Roe v Wade didn't sit well with a large majority of Americans.  Roughly 2/3 are pissed.  That same figure wants to change the rules for the court:  mandatory retirement at a certain age, and term limits.  Americans want to get rid of justices having a job for life.  I'm up for that.  

And will Ginni Thomas ever talk to the Jan 6 committee.  I doubt it.  She has a fat mouth and says a lot, but only follows through if she can spread her hatred.  Married to Thomas for 37 years, her womb is evidently barren, or they made a conscious decision that birth control was essential in order for her to avoid giving birth to black children.  I do think that's the main reason.  Clarence Thomas truly does hate his DNA.  

Is Mark Meadows a human slug

And here it is, Thursday.  Unless requested off, Thursdays will always be on my schedule.  With semi-retirement comes the need for regularity.  I am serious.  The temptation of idly sitting around wasting hours on the Internet is great.  As a result, I have set up my own schedules.  Certain chores get performed on certain days of the week.  Laundry is Tuesday.  Friday, I mow the lawn.  If I bake, it's always on Wednesdays.  I write during the afternoons I don't work, usually about an hour to an hour and a half, that's enough time for me to pound out 500 - 700 words.  This all works well for me.

Last night I went to the movies.  It was, for me, a really late show: 8 PM.  I was surprised by the number of people in the theater at that hour since this is a work week.  The film was R rated, so no kids.  Quite often I think studios dumb down movies to get a PG 13 rating.  Dialogue is less sharp because 13-year-olds don't have the same vocabulary as adults.  The dialogue was edgy last night.  Oh, and what movie did I go see?  The Black Phone.  A drama / thriller with a couple of jump scares.  The acting was top notch.  This is the best thing Ethan Hawke has done in years.  Originally supposed to be released in February, they wisely waited and made this a summer movie.

And, speaking of phones, I was pleased to see that quite a number of people noted how out of the picture Mark Meadows seemed on the days leading up to January 6.  Usually, a president's Chief of Staff is also an advisor, an individual the president turns to for an opinion, someone who not only manages the staff but also has the ability to say "hey, prez, that might not be a good idea."  I wonder how long it to Mark to realize that Trump didn't really want a Chief of Staff, that he was instead expected to be a combination lapdog, fanboy who submissively did everything he was told to do.  I don't doubt that shortly into his tenure he decided to just resign himself and accept that position, after all the job paid well.  For those who don't know, Meadows was Trump's 3rd Chief of Staff in less than 4 years, so I'm fairly certain he must have been well aware of his future boss's demands.  This, as well as Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony on his indifferent approach to January 6 pretty much prove he's nothing but a human slug... wait, I have to take that back, that's not being very kind to slugs.

Finally, and not surprising in the least, Ginni Thomas has changed her mind.  Remember when she said she couldn't wait to sit before the January 6 committee and set the record straight?  Now, her attorney is saying that such a sit-down would be irrelevant... oh, and he added that the Thomases are undergoing a lot of stress, death threats, you know?  What did Clarence think was going to happen when he chose to help upset the lives of a large majority of Americans?  I suspect God never told Clarence or Ginni that their future involved such a shit storm.  

Call a Liar a Liar

 Say hello to a quiet Sunday.  Well... maybe.  I have to work an 8-hour shift today.  Business might not be too slow early in the day, then, there might be a mini rush when the after-Church crowd arrives, but later this afternoon it will be slow.  I'm getting paid for 8 hours whether the store is busy or not.

Yesterday the temps around here peaked at 91 (F).  This is not the first time we've been in the 90s, though this is the first time since summer has officially arrived.  Compared to many other parts of the country, that's not too hot.  Being aware of this, I played a little game with customers by saying "I understand it's hot outside."  To hear their responses, you would think the temps were so high the heat was practically sucking the breath from their lungs.  So, I added that it was much hotter in Texas and their eyes would glaze as dumbness reigned.  When did so many people turn into non-thinking sheep?

I did freeze several bags of peaches yesterday.  I even went so far as to cut out all the little, itsy-bitsy worms.  I get enough protein in my diet; I don't need anymore.

More of my dahlias are getting ready to bloom.  I have at least 3 (possibly 4) more plants in this little garden, with marigolds sprinkled among them.  Color is simply great!

Maureen Dowd, who can at times sound dated, has an interesting piece in the NYT regarding Clarence Thomas.  She does mention how he is anti-contraceptive, meaning he's against birth control.  This is interesting since Ginni, his wife, has never given birth.  She married Clarence in 1987, when she was 30 years old, quite a fruitful age for making babies.  Remember, he is supposedly a devout Catholic, which is why he's anti-abortion and anti-contraceptive, and yet he and Ginni made no babies.  If she wasn't on the pill than God must have damned her to be a barren wife... or maybe, they just don't have sex.

One of the things that has bothered me is the fact so many are afraid to can a religious extremist an Extremist, or a Zealot.  We are dealing with a radical group that is constantly labeling centrists as fascists.  They call Democrats Communists and those people who believe 92 (F) is hot believe them.  Too many people in this country think we have only 2 choices, taking the high road, or taking the low road.  There is a middle road called standing up for your rights.  When a religious zealot, like Marjorie Taylor Green calls us fascists she needs to be called out loudly.  We need to loudly begin labeling these people as Extremists, and we need to do so loudly.  We need to tell America who these people truly are.

Susan Collins' failure was exemplified by her saying Brett Kavanaugh misled her.  Misled her?  No, he didn't, he lied to her.  Told her straight to her face Roe v Wade was settled.  She would have done more to save her face by just admitting that he lied to her.  Do not dance around the truth.  Every congressman, every senator, every time they get in front of a microphone need to remind the American people that Brett Kavanaugh, and Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito, and Clarence Thomas lied to congress.  These people misled nobody.  They lied.

Buzz This

 Well, we did get rain yesterday, some in the afternoon, most of it overnight.  In fact, there's still a bit of the drizzly wizzly still falling outside.  I don't mind the rain.  Rain is free, watering my mini-garden costs money.  Within the past 2 months, every one of my utility bills has increased: electricity up $6 per month, natural gas up $2 per month, and water up $4 per month.  These expenses are all easily covered by my paychecks from the big, orange home improvement retailer I work for, but this is not the case for others which may be why we've been hiring a lot of seniors lately.  

If the forecasters are correct, out temps today will only climb into the mid 70s (F) with a 92% chance of rain, however, this weekend we'll be topping off the thermometers in the mid 90s (F) with full sun.  Our next rain event will be arriving on Monday, that is if the forecasters are right.

Buzz Lightyear didn't hit expectations on when it opened this past weekend.  I will wait for to watch it when it hits Disney +.  I understand a lot of phony Christian /Conservatives are blaming a fleeting, lesbian kiss.  You have to remember that these parents and grandparents have turned Disney in a babysitter.   Plop the kids down in front of the TV and all you need to do is cast the occasional eye on them.  These homophobes are now pissed off because their kiddies might learn that there is nothing wrong with two mommies kissing, or two daddies for that matter.

I made some French toast yesterday with homemade bread.  Tasty!  Today I'm going to attempt potatoes with oregano, a side dish which will probably be main for later this afternoon.  That's right.  I usually eat my dinner late in the afternoon.  Meals before bedtime are not the best.

There's another January 6 hearing this afternoon at 3 PM.  I'll be watching.  I understand they're going to touch on Jeff Clark, the Trumpist Scott Perry was pushing to replace the Attorney General in order to steal the election.

I understand more subpoenas have been issued in regard to January 6.  Very interesting.  Republicans are really beginning to hate these hearings.  Democrats are allowing Republicans to make high level Republicans look reprehensible.  

One of those subpoenaed was Mo Brooks.  The Orange Anus saw him as a Golden Child, until Mo spoke up and said we need to move on and leave the 2020 election behind.  Suddenly his favorability ratings were shot to Hell.  Rumors are now swirling that he will testify, but only on live television.  Translation:  he's going to go for the throat.

As for blubbery Ginni setting the record straight and correcting those 'misconceptions?'  I wouldn't count on that happening anytime soon.  She likes to see herself as a behind the scenes mover and shaker.  The idea of having her bacon fried on TV is something she holds in deep disdain.  Besides, there's a limit as to how many times she can wear her stylishly red cardigan in public, and no other color picks up the roses in her cheeks as well as red.

Ginni, Ginni, Ginni

 Here it is Friday.  I stepped on my Withings scale yesterday and instead of looking down and seeing how much weight I had horrifyingly gained, I saw this message:  Set Up.  Son of a bitch.  I was set up.  I weighed myself just a couple of days back.  The only time I get this message is when I replace the batteries.  That wasn't done.  I will go through the process of setting it up, but I'm thinking this might be a sign that it needs to be replaced... perhaps with something that doesn't have all the bells and whistles.

I will need to do some work on the aquariums today.  

Last night I watched the first episode of Halo.  I liked it.  Definitely to violent for the kiddies.  I saw that Amblin Entertainment is one of the producers, which means Spielberg is in some tiny way involved.  I'm not the only one who thinks it's good.  Let me warn those who are gamer squeamish, the series is based on a video game.  Believe me, this is not like the game.

Of course, so many have now heard about Virginia Thomas' texts to Mark Meadows.  At one time he was Donald (just call me the spawn of Satan) Trump's Chief of Staff. He was also, at one point, sort of working with the January 6 committee... but that stopped.  No doubt at Ginni's urging because those texts, if not treasonous, reveal the depth of her corruption.  You do know who Ginni is, don't you?  The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas?  You know?  The Oreo who probably rarely gets dipped in Ginni's glass of milk.  You have to wonder if the only reason Ginni and Clarence are married is so she can influence his Conservative decisions on the Supreme Court.  Now we know why he was the only dissenting voice when it came to releasing White House documents, including texts.  Remember that?  Maybe that's why he's in the hospital.  The ugly truth about Ginni has been revealed.

Donny Has a Bad Week

 Another slow Sunday has arrived.  I don't have to work today, so I'm going to lunch with some friends, and then it's a stop at my neighborhood Giant supermarket.  I put gas in my car.  $40 worth of gas.  I think that's way too much even if it is less than what they pay in the EU.  Of course, Big Oil spits out the same excuse over and over again... supplies are down.  That could be.  The true reason gas is so expensive is American Capitalism.  Big Oil does need their 5% growth every year.  They don't care if it screws you over.  They don't know you from Adam.  All they do know is that they need to keep their investors happy.  And Americans will piss and moan, and look for someone other than Big Oil to blame.

I watched "Encanto" last evening.  Very nice.  I saw the trailer multiple times and had no idea it was a musical.  I also watched several episodes of "The Book of Boba Fett."  That's good, too.  It was rated TV14, which means the violence might be a little too intense for the kiddies.  Honestly, the show isn't meant for kiddies at all, but you know there are stupid parents out there who will permit the 4 and 5 year old kids to watch the show because nothing says stupid like a parent using the TV as a baby sitter.

And of course, we all know that Donny had a bad week.  I truly wish that could be an understatement, but it isn't, mostly because I suspect there are many more bad weeks yet to come.  Thanks to the Supreme Court Mitch McConnell packed, information that had been sitting stagnant is now flowing.  The January 6 committee now knows so much.  People are beginning to anticipate.  They're wondering if Ginni Thomas' ass is going to get thrown on the Barbie to roast, if Ivanka Danka's going to to stab daddy'o in the back to save her own stinky ass, if Giuliani is going to have a jail cell named in his honor, to name just a few.  And the New York Attorney General is humiliating his constantly, dousing his lies with facts and setting them afire.  I liked the bit about his apartment in Trump Tower that went from 30,000 square feet for tax purposes, down to 10,000 actual square feet.  Wow, I can smell the smoke and see the cinders from here.

Rewrite This

Slept in again this morning , and not because I stayed up late.  When the alarm clock went off this morning, I simply turned it off and rolled over.  This is getting to be a bad habit, I think.  Perhaps I'm going through the winter doldrums. 

The temps might warm up into the mid-30's next week.  This winter is colder than the last two.  The snow and ice are non-relenting.  The roads and sidewalks are clear, but crunchy, crusty, icy snow covers everything else.

My upstairs desk chair broke.  The seat no longer stays at the height I want, sinking as low as it can go within in few minutes after I sit down.  It's a gaming chair and a lot of gamers like sitting low to the ground, I don't.  That's one of the reasons I drive an SUV, so my ass isn't riding a foot above the road.  This means the search will soon begin for a new desk chair.

The Body in Repose is over half complete. The rewrite is going in fast. This is what it looks like, in case any of you are wondering.  So, how important do you think the sentence, 'Bobby sat back in his chair and popped the top of another Anchor Beer,' is to the story?  Hhhmmm

I saw where Ivanka Danka has been asked to testify before the January 6 committee.  I'm wondering how much dirt they have on her that they can afford to 'ask.'  Will she comply and turn the screws on her father?  Well, let's be honest, she's a Trump so the only ass she's worried about is her own.

Finally, there's a lot of buzzy buzz going around that Clarence (my skin's only dark because of the bad lighting) Thomas was the only judge to vote against releasing Trump's communications from January 6 because his wife Ginni's name is going to figure prominently.  For those who don't know, Ginni (my lighting is so much better than Clarence's) is an Evangelical  Conservative Activist.  One of the things I find interesting about the couple is that even though they've been married since 1987, they have no naturally born children, nor have they adopted any children, unlike Amy Coney Boney Barrett.
