Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

When Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

Our outside temp is sitting at 25 (F).  According to the forecasters, by this afternoon that number will have doubled.  That's right.  They're saying we should be in the low 50s (F) this afternoon.  That's a big increase to the original "low 40s (F)."  The long range forecast has our weather pattern to snap back to colder days sometime next week, meaning that the chilling event for later in the week has been put on hold.

Yesterday was a good day as far as accomplishments go.  I got a nice workout done in the morning.  Using both dumbbells and the new piece of equipment, they run about an hour..  Cleaning was done.  Several loads of laundry were put through the washer and dryer.  I spent time working on my Spanish.  Overall, I was pleased.

My Cuisinart combo coffee bean grinder and maker is in the trash and I'm back to using the Krupp's brewer I used for years.  I did keep the stainless steel, insulated coffee pot, however, to use as a carafe.  The first cup is always great, however, coffee sitting in a glass pot on a hot warmer will soon begin to cook.  Cooked coffee is bitter, so after brewing, I pour the coffee from the glass pot into the stainless steel, insulated carafe, where it will stay warm for hours.

I have a lot of vinyl.  While I did give some albums away over the years, quite a few remain and every now and then I will pull a record out of its dustcover and pop it on the turntable.  This morning I listened to Roberta, by Jerome Kern.  There are many versions, some sung, others simply instrumental.  Here's an instrumental version from the year I was born, danced by Gower and Marge Champion.  It's rather nifty.

And while the shit show in Washington continues to take place, more and more we're beginning to see Orangie losing over and over again.  His administration has always lost court cases, but here of late that number seems to have picked up speed.  Where his losses were happening once a week, now the courts seem to be ruling against him daily.  This is all very good, because Orangie hates to seen as a loser.  The more he loses, the more his anger twists and burns.  We are also beginning to see more Republican Senators and Congressmen stand up to him, possibly because we are in an election year.  Instead of comprehending just what they're doing wrong, they are bullheadedly plowing ahead.  The subpoenas against Jerome Powell by the 74 year-old wino Jeannine Pirro and one of Orangie's favorite fascists, Bill Pulte, have struck a nerve among a number of Republicans.  Wall Street was not happy.  Can you hear me laughing?  Remember, Orangie is a bad loser, and these nutjobs prove him to be just that, a loser.  Orangie is in the process of wracking up so many losses, and I'm betting that more than smoke is getting in his eyes.

Where's the Beef?

We're under a heat advisory for today.  Right now our outside temp is 76 (F) and it is only going to get hotter.  Now that doesn't mean the mercury in our thermometers will be climbing into the triple digits.  Nope.  The forecast is for our temp to hit 95 (F), it's the "real feel" of 104 (F) that's the reason for the advisory.  Thunderstorms this weekend will knock our temps back down into the upper 70s (F) to mid 80s (F).

Yesterday was definitely a meh day when it came to getting things accomplished.  I was scheduled to work and that put a damper on my enthusiasm to do anything else.  I did get some words written, but just a few.  I also got a mini-upper body workout in, but even that was lame.  Certain muscles need more than 48 hours to recover, that's why the week gets broken up in to specific days, such as leg day, and back day, and arm day.  Muscle growth is slow to achieve.

Work, itself, we pretty meh, too.  My supervisors needed to help me cut vinyl.  She doesn't know what she's doing so it ended up all flippy floppy.  The roll should have been firm and it was saggy.  She's a dip.  In her middle 60s, she wants to move up into management and so she's focusing mostly on numbers.  She's taking the wrong tact.  She spends much of her time sitting at a computer and ignoring the fact that even our store manager is out in the aisles packing down product, filling holes in the shelves.  She doesn't understand that the position she wants is a labor intensive 50 hour a week job.  They're not going to promote someone who just wants to supervise.

For those who are counting pennies, the cost for a pound of ground beef is $6.19 here in Central PA.  That beats the national high of $6.12

For those who didn't see, Volkswagen missed their plan by $1.6 billion.  They are the 2nd car company in less than 2 weeks that missed by over a billion.  This is because they're eating the tariffs.  Wall Street is not going to let this continue.  Those car tariffs are going to be coming our way and the cost of a new car is going to go through the roof.

There is chatter that a trade deal with Japan might actually get signed, which is terrible.  The new tariff is supposedly 15%, the old tariff was 2%.  Those added costs are going to be passed on to the consumer, and the added revenue will be paid to billionaires.

Jerome Powell publicly disagreed with the Orange Anus yesterday on live TV.  Orangie's butt was already burning from South Park mockery.  His ego can not deal with this public ridicule.  And he's leaving for Scotland where everybody hates him.  There are going to be protests.  Good.

New approval ratings were released and Orangie's overall approval rating is 37%.  What's truly devastating about that number is that is approval rating among Independent voters is down to 27%.  That number is simply horrific since neither party can do anything without the Independent voters, and right now less than one third of them approve of Orangie and his administration.

Another One Bites the Dust

We did have showers yesterday, not steady rains, just a brief period when parts of the veranda not covered by the maples out back was wet, and on the street out front you could definitely see that it was raining.  And then it stopped.  There is a 40% chance of rain today, but again it's only going to be sporadic showers... if that.

Everything has been set up with new countertop.  They're going to come to measure and make a template on Tuesday, and 2 weeks later it's going to be installed.  As a result, certain things need to be done in the next 14 days, like all of the painting needs to be done, and the floor should be installed.  I work better in the morning, meaning I'll probably be getting up well before dawn cracks across the horizon.

I do get to go to work today.  Can you see the excitement in my words?  It won't be until this afternoon, which gives me time to take Lily for her walk, maybe get in 2 miles on the treadmill, and possibly do a little painting.

And yesterday this happened.

That's right, another one of Trump's crooked lawyers bit the dust, pleading guilty to get a deal so his saggy butt wouldn't need to spend a single night in jail.  From everything that I've read, Cheesy was one of the architects, and now he's going to talk... or already has provided seriously incriminating information.  This also means that Trump's being rattled constantly, and when he gets rattled, so does his cult, especially those members of congress who believed he was going to give Republicans unlimited power.  Ouch!

I don't doubt for a second that those hard-liners who were pushing for Jimmy Jordan to be Speaker of the House are beginning to look back over their shoulders, because both Chesebro and Powell can name every single one of them who was involved in the insurrection.  I mean, that's why Jimmy had himself put in charge of a committee whose main job was to squelch such inquiries.  Personally, the more of them that go to jail, the happier I will be.  This is how the Republican Party dies, by it's own hand.

Sink

So, I slept in this morning.  Not because I stayed up binging some series, either.  I went to bed fairly early, woke up several times during the night, and when the alarm went off at 0530 I shut it off, rolled over and went back to sleep for another hour and a half.

Temps are only supposed to climb into the low 90s (F) today, that is until the storms arrive.  For the next 4 days we're supposed to be getting rain, which means I need to mow my front lawn sooner rather than later.  Temps are also supposed to chill, meaning they will only climb into the low 80s (F)

Yesterday was odd.  I was expecting several deliveries and that crimped any plans for a decent workout, the last thing I wanted to do was stand in the doorway signing for a cabinet, or a sink, dripping with sweat.  And since not everybody rings the doorbell, riding the bike on the second floor was not really a good option.  Hopefully, I'll make up for it today.

And, of the things I signed for yesterday was this.

And yesterday a judge ruled that 2 of the Georgia 19... (it is nineteen, isn't it?  or is it 18?) cannot sever their trials.  That's right, Powell and Chesebro are going to be tried with the rest of the defendants.  This is not good news for those wanting to separate themselves.  Also, for those really interested, you could watch the proceedings live on YouTube.  Since neither Syd nor Jimmy were in the courtroom, I didn't really pay it too much attention.

A good laugh was had by all this morning over the Orange Anus's comment about taking the witness stand during the trial.  That will never happen because that would mean he'd have to answer questions, and using the 5th on televised TV would make him look like the loser he truly is.  Prepare yourselves, he's going to sink even lower.

Finally, I saw that DeSantis' supporters are beginning to see the writing on the wall.  Did they really believe America was going to accept a shrill, little man who doesn't have a problem with Nazis?  I wonder if Social Conservatives realize that Nazis believe in the Arian Nation and Jesus is not going to get an invitation to that party.

The Blame Game

The weekend has arrived and it's supposed to be glorious... and, as usual, I'm working.  And not only is it The Weekend... it's Labor Day weekend.  This means I'll be getting some holiday pay, and there's nothing wrong with that, especially since I'm moving forward with this kitchen renovation.

Lindsey was here yesterday.  She's going to do the construction, drywall, tearing out the sink cabinet and install the new one and the sink, and her boyfriend's going to be doing the plumbing.  I started ripping out the old grip-strip vinyl flooring.  Back when I bought it, twelve or so years ago, my decision was based mostly on looks rather than quality.  Today I know much better.  While we do sell the stuff, we don't install it because it's not waterproof, one of the few vinyl floors that isn't; I learned the hard way.  The wear layer is only 4 mils, meaning it's terrible for pets, my dogs proved that by scratching it all up.  The new stuff is going to be much better.

I baked a spanakopita for dinner last evening, a full pan, so I'll be eating Greek spinach pie for the next couple of days.

One of the most amusing things about the Atlanta indictments is how many of the indictees are wanting to sever themselves from the rest of the bunch.  I saw where Navarro wants to make sure his trial is severed from Powell's, you know?  Sydney?  The woman who's trying to pull a Trumpism by saying she had nothing to do with the fake electors because she had hardly anything to do with the rest of the gang?  And I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't want his trial to go first, since I'm sure he, like the rest of them, knows that blame is going to be flying like shit pies once the trials begin.  There will be a blame game extraordinaire.
