I hate to see the old theaters disappear, but I'm glad they kept the ticket booth and part of the facade.

This is the historic Paramount Theater on Charlottesville's Main Street. Here's the info from the Paramount Website: Built in 1931, Charlottesville's Paramount Theater has held a starring role both now and in the past. Once a home for movies and community events, The Paramount's doors were closed for thirty years before recent restoration returned the theater's former glory. Marquee font is a glamorous font with a jazzy Elvis Presley show feel to it.

A new marquee at the Carpenter Theater. This new marquee is a replica of the original, aside from the digital ticker line and the illuminated lettering. Originally this was traditional removable backlit letting. Here is a older photo of the theater that shows the ugly 1970s marquee. Originally, this theater was a Loew's movie palace.

Really annoyed about tonight's photo shoot. The Paramount does classic movie night on Friday for $5. I've been before, it's a great night of entertainment for cheap. I went again to shoot the theater while I was there. They let me buy my ticket then searched my bag and only when it came time to scan my ticket did they tell me that I couldn't have my bag.
