The Providence Biltmore is an historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Providence, Rhode Island. When it opened in 1922 the hotel quickly became the social hub of the city. Its Garden Room swung to the sounds of Benny Goodman and Jimmy Dorsey orchestras, and its dance floor was once turned into an aquarium...

The arrival of the opulent Biltmore Hotel in 1923 was a "statement to the rest of the world that Los Angeles had arrived as an American metropolis." Its impact was undeniable and its grandeur would become an integral part of the history of our city.

This was built in 1922. It was designed by New York City architectural firm Warren & Wetmore, who also designed Grand Central Terminal. At the time of its construction, it was considered very grand and high-society. I'm not sure how it's considered now, although I read some reviews that called it outdated. Apparently (I've never been inside but I've seen pictures) the lobby has an ornately embossed bronze ceiling. This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
