I 'heard' of a white squirrel recently.....love to see one of those !

My daughter says it's a squirrel - looks like a rabbit to me. Took it out the back porch as it was on the move away. In the "Black Forest" (not all the animals are black :) NE of Colorado Springs about 7500 - 7800 ft. elevation.

We call him Boots - a melanistic red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) with a white belly and white hind legs! He and his black and white siblings and mum run around our yard!
