"This listing is for a 6\"x6\" encaustic collage on a cradle board panel. It is number 8 in my series entitled \"Everyday Saints\", which is based on the idea that we can perform miracles in the lives of those around us, simply by expressing kindness, empathy, and solidarity with their struggle. Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, is the ancient art of painting with molten beeswax, which is melted with damar resin (resin from a pine tree in Southeast Asia), and rare earth pigments. Encaustic comes from the Greek word ἐγκαυστικός which translates to \"to burn in\". The first records of encaustic art date back to 1AD in Greece, where Pliny The Elder described the process in his book \"Natural History\".
