OK, I have to start by saying I CANNOT take credit for this DIY post! Back story: This past weekend we converted Ainsley's crib into a toddler bed. I didn't know if she was ready or not, but we did it because Zander's was converted at 18 months. We figured if she didn't do well, we could put the crib side back on until she was ready. Pool noodle safety bumper. Just pull fitted sheet over the noodle. I had a store bought safety rail ($20) but my toddler kept trying to climb over it instead of scooting around it to get out of bed. Seemed unsafe to me so I switched it out for a pool noodle. She can't roll out of bed but can still get in and out easily without tripping or climbing. Also, I felt the original safety rail posed a strangulation hazard b/c she could fit her head between the post of the crib and the end of the rail.
