Tree reading nook

This dad made his daughter a fairy bedroom fit for a fairy princess.

So happy to be sharing the completed Paper Mache Tree project! It's been years in the making; mainly because I start projects but then get sidetracked which means I have lots of half finished projects around my house. But, sometimes I do complete them! This tree stands in my girls' room. It's made of wire and paper mache, and then painted. I did glue some brown tissue paper on to 'undercoat' the trunk brown so I wouldn't have to paint it as much, and it also doubled up as good bark texture…

The holiday season is a magical time, especially for children, filled with wonder, excitement, and the spirit of giving. One way to amplify this festive cheer is by creating special Christmas reading nooks for kids.

M's reading nook. The room was already painted blue and had a chalkboard stripe (as you see). My husband did not want to paint over the stripe, so I just went for it anyway. The tree is cheap, brown tissue paper glued to the wall using Elmer's school glue. The shelves are melamine from Ikea. I sprayed them brown using Krylon plastic paint. The leaves are cut from a Junie B. Jones book. The cocoon is from Ikea as well. :) She really enjoys this little hideaway.
