The Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta released plans for Europe’s very first underwater restaurant in Lindesnes in 2017. Making the dream of many come true, the company has opened the doors of the underwater restaurant for guests a few days back.

The observatory is an architectural concept intended to create a ‘gate’ opening seacoast to the underwater world of flora and fauna. The object is situated in a coastal area and forms a spatial connector between the beach and the sea. The aim of the project is to attempt to create a marine observatory whose structure would merge well with the beach area without overwhelming the seaside landscape. Set to become the world’s largest marine observatory with an underwater restaurant, the partially submerged Centre is imagined as a whale’s head rising over Australian waters.

Baca Architects has unveiled the Australian Underwater Discovery Centre, a marine observatory that will mimic a whale emerging from Geographe Bay.

The main idea of ​​the project is to combine the normally understood building structure with the power of the element into a kinetic hybrid. It aims to symbolize synergy between human activity and ocean power. The effect of this combination are two large oceanic waterfalls which appear flooding the existing object.
