This educational innovation study addresses the substance abuse problem and the need for its prevention in High school students. It focuses on a collaborative learning initiative of Pharmacognosy students of the 3rd year of the Pharmacy Degree at the Universitat de València in secondary education, with the dual purpose of improving the training of university students and preventing the consumption of substances. University students provide relevant and rigorous scientific information, as well as digital resources to access to reliable content about drugs. Hence, this work aims to assess the perceptions and attitudes of High school students regarding the consumption of addictive substances, as well as to analyse their opinion in the period of 20192023. The obtained results, in the same line as the data collected by public surveys, emphasized that providing accurate information could influence the reduction in consumption of abuse substances and combat misinformation. It is worth noting that students’ perceptions of substance consumption differ according to educational level and academic year. Therefore, it is corroborated the need for further quality collaborative learning outside the classroom focused on the prevention of a social and health problems such as substance abuse consumption.
