"En tren de ser sincero": un calco del francés en el español del Cono Sur

    Este trabajo ofrece una descripción razonada de “en tren de”, locución adverbial de uso corriente en las variedades del Cono Sur, fruto del calco del francés “en train de”, documentada en América desde el primer tercio del siglo XIX. Tras conocer los significados que se han ofrecido en la bibliografía precedente, se presenta su distribución geográfica actual, gracias a los datos de varios corpus lingüísticos (CORDE, CREA, CORPES XXI y “Corpus del español”) y se establece que Argentina es el país donde mayor empleo se hace de esta locución. Esta documentación permite describir el uso de “en tren de” tanto con infinitivos como con sintagmas nominales. Después se resume y explica este calco, mediante la forma verbal en francés, su traducción, el desarrollo del aspecto progresivo y el proceso de gramaticalización sufrido por “train”, en contraste con la situación documentada en las variedades del Cono Sur.

    This work offers a reasoned description of “en tren de”, an adverbial phrase of current use in the varieties of the Southern Cone, as the result of a loan from French “en train de”, documented in America since the first third of the 19th century. After knowing the meanings that offered in the preceding bibliography, its current geographical distribution is presented, thanks to the data of several linguistic corpus (CORDE, CREA, CORPES XXI and “Corpus del español”), and it is established that Argentina is the country where this adverbial phrase is largest employment. This documentation allows describing the use of “en tren de” with infinitive and nominal phrases. Then, this loan is summarized and explained, through the verbal form in French, the development of the progressive aspect and the grammaticalization process suffered by “train”, in contrast to the situation documented in the Southern Cone varieties.
