This research delves into the significance of establishing an emotionally rich learning environment for individuals learning a second language. Specifically, the study concentrates on personalized activities that enable Spanish learners to establish an emotional connection with the language and enhance their identity as second language learners. The pedagogical techniques employed include sharing experiences, role-playing cooking activities, and mindfulness exercises. Data collection instruments were utilized to assess the effects on student learning. Findings revealed that integrating cultural activities and didactic approaches that focus on personal experiences and the students’ identity can significantly impact language acquisition. The sharing experiences task, role-playing, and the preparation of typical dishes from Spanish-speaking cultures were all effective in promoting language practice, cultural exchange, and improving communication and interpersonal skills. Moreover, these activities had a positive effect on students’ emotional connection to the language and their engagement in the learning process. Overall, the study underscores the importance of creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters emotional connections to the language and culture. The implications of these findings may be particularly relevant for educators seeking to develop pedagogical strategies that maximize language acquisition and enhance students’ overall learning experience.
