Mareida Sound is an Andean-souled, future-facing EP exploring memory, migration and identity through electronic music.
London-based Chilean producer and DJ DJ Raff presents Mareida Sound, a four-track EP that merges South American sonic landscapes with a contemporary electronic language. Commissioned by the upcoming London restaurant Mareida, the project is rooted in the artist’s personal experience of migration, cultural hybridity and ancestral resonance.
Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, DJ Raff (Rafael Pérez) combines elements of indigenous cosmology, desert atmospheres, poetic reflection, and childhood nostalgia — reframed through synths, textures, and rhythms that speak the language of now.
The EP is available both digitally and in a limited-edition cassette, echoing its analogue-meets-digital ethos.
“To me, being South American means being a spark from that intense collision of cultures — a new flame still evolving. That’s what I’ve tried to capture with this EP.”
TRACKLIST + NOTES
Infinito
Inspired by the Mapuche philosophy of balance between opposites — light/dark, life/death, earth/sky. Here, duality is not conflict but a living complementarity: an infinite dance of interdependent forces, echoing through a natural, cyclical rhythm.
Atacama Night
A sonic postcard from Chile’s northern desert — its vast silence and overwhelming night skies. Built from ancient instrumentation and digital synthesis, this track bridges worlds: dusty ground and laptop screen, memory and invention.
Mensaje
Takes its cue from Amereida, a collective poetic work from South America that questions linear histories and identities. It suggests that self-knowledge is not a final answer but a continuous process of searching and reimagining roots.
Sol y Arena
Childhood summers, beach days, the bittersweet feeling of freedom ending — and beginning again. Written in London, the track reflects the compressed joy of a short summer in a city that erupts when the sun finally arrives.
ABOUT THE COMMISSION
Mareida Sound was commissioned by Mareida, a new London-based restaurant concept celebrating the untapped richness of Chile’s landscapes and cuisine, from the South Andean coast to the mountains. Bold, diverse, and rooted in storytelling, Mareida’s vision aligns with the sonic explorations of this EP.
“Mareida will bring Chile’s largely unexplored landscape and cuisine to London, celebrating bold and diverse flavours journeying from the South Andean coast to the mountains.”
